Increasing or decreasing the size of the government or lowering taxes isn't the answer either. We've had vibrant, healthy economic cycles when taxes were decreased AND increased. They're 2 separate issues.
If you look at the US and worldwide economies, there is instability based upon incredible imbalance. In every macro-segment of the economic machine, we can find huge imbalances.
-world currencies
-stock prices vs. profit
-Home prices vs incomes
-The federal deficit
All of these desperately need to find their NATURAL balance or we'll have continued volatility. Which ever candidate gets elected, all eyes will be upon him. And the ironic thing is, no president except maybe FDR has or will have a significant impact on economic trends. They are not supposed to. At least in a free-market, capitalistic society where natural laws of supply & demand guide the markets.
