How is it that you say the police do not have a duty to protect individual when the police officers in question were fired for "dereliction of duty," for failing to protect individuals?

Socarras is only one of six officers caught neglecting their duties: after being followed and caught on surveillance video by Internal Affairs, two officers and a sergeant were fired and three were suspended without pay for dereliction of duty from the Miami Dade Police Department.

You continue to seek the exception to the rule, however for the most part 99.999% of the time, the police respond as is their policy to do so.
You can't sue gun manufacturers either, so what??
Because these Miami police did not respond is an indicator of not much...

Lets see there was an incident in Miami in 2010, since then none reported... just because you do not comprehend logic, does not mean that no one else does...
There are 240 million 911 calls in the US annually.. do the math.

No need to say you are sorry.. no apologies necessary. It is what it is, a fact.
But if you need it, here it is..

I just don't want to hold yourself to a standard that is less than what you expect from everyone else.
P.S. OMG, you are renting space in my brain. Just so you don't have to use your goto phrase

So basically you have no recourse against the police department.

Other than knowing they'll be fired and won't do it again, of course.
You are taking a small part of what happens occasionally in a town/municipality and making it the entire basis for something else - which doesn't really stand up in the grand scheme of the way things work.
No system is foolproof - no hospital, no fire department, no government, no bank, no fast food joint, no legal system, no child care, no school, no web site, no police department. It does not mean the systems themselves do not work or that the great majority of people will not be taken care of correctly.
So the courts say we cannot sue the police department for an occasional failure - that's a terrible thing, I agree - but then again, the courts have also decreed that we cannot sue the gun manufacturers, either, should they occasionally fail - do you agree that's a terrible thing, too?
