Default Should they give Culpepper, Holcomb, Rattay or Weinke a call?

I am not worried about the preseason but with the uncertainty of what is going on with Brady and whether it is his injury on his foot from last year or the other foot this year is driving me crazy especially knowing its obvious that the 3 QBs remaining on the roster are either too green as in O'Connell and Guiterrez or just not NFL caliber as in Cassel.

I think its a no brainer that the coach will at least give one of those available Veteran QBs out there a hard look and maybe give them a call this week - If so who would you like to see them showing interest in if any?

Daunte Culpepper
Tim Hasslebeck
Kelly Holcomb
Jared Lorenzen
Jamie Martin
Craig Nall
Tim Rattay
Brian St. Pierre
Chris Weinke
Lester Ricard

In terms of not only being a veteran but a QB with some experience at the starting job are the 4 QBs - Culpepper,Weinke,Holcomb and Rattay

Of those guys I would rather see Holcomb get a call since I think he had a few decent games and Culpepper if he can prove he is not totally immobile, even if he was are the guys we have now any better?

Gutierrez is probably going to make it,O' Connell maybe too but you never know what BB is thinking right now and bringing in one of these veterans is not such a bad idea IMO

Always liked Rattay as a backup, but this team doesn't really seem to like short QBs, Flutie excepted.

Still I think it may be too late to bring in a backup QB.

It is late but desperate times for desperate measures

I mean there is no way BB could have known Cassel was going to be this horrid thereby leaving #2 spot open to a 3rd round rookie and an erratic Guiterrez - I had my doubts last week thinking Cassel may have just had a nervous game, but 2 in a row horrible performances has me knowing he is made to hold the clipboard and this team does not need that - we need an emergency guy who can play.

Would not mind Rattay in here. The guy has produced every chance he's gotten but still can't hold a backup job. It'd be fun to have the guy we barely chose Brady over backing him up 9 years later.

Tim Rattay yes .. No for Daunte Culpepper since he still feels he is a starter..

I was thinking that earlier but hasn't Rattay been out of the league last year after getting cut early or we he still on a roster at week 16?

Throwing a 3rd round rookie out there in an emergency against high powered teams in a regular season game is like going swimming in shark infested waters with bloody steaks glued to all of your body skin -

In other words way too dangerous and a killing is inevitable -

Tom Brady like guys who come in like he did in 2001 are too rare of a player to even think its possible with O'Connell,Give the kid time and he may be O.K.in a year or two,too early to even have a clue on him right now.

Not really on the same wagon most of the other posters on this board are on. We didn't scheme for this game and Tampa did. After the first drive, though Cassel never looked very pretty, he made better decisions and some good throws. Unlike O'Connell, he wasn't always leading his receiver into defenders.

I would call Flutie out of retirement before I called those stiffs. But I bet Moss would not mind Culpepper getting some look.
