That would be true, except that Jones is actually very good at setting the edge and using his long arms to avoid being engaged by blockers. Perhaps most importantly, he is not a traditional edge rusher, in that he doesn't sprint upfield and attempt to beat the tackle around the corner. He engages and beats the blocker, which means he doesn't open up a massive running lane in his attempt to get to the QB. That's a huge dela, and it's the biggest reason we's a good run defender - not great, but maybe he'll become that down the line. He's clearly not a finished product yet, as either a run defender or pass rusher.
This is the kind of conversation that you can't have on the basis of incredibly simple stats like tackles. You have to watch the games, understand what's happening, and apply an awful lot of qualitative analysis.

Well yeah, any team in the league would be happy to have Aldon Smith. The one thing that he's exceptional at is very important and hard to find.
