You're completely missing the point. One of the reasons WHY the OL has not been "anythng near a weak spot as the secondary" is because of the coaching.
If the quality of the coaching between the OL and secondary were reversed, we'd be having the same conversation about the O-line: "Why can't the Pats draft good offensive lineman? They've sucked for years! They never go on to be stars anywhere else! Look what Dante's done with the secondary!"

Re: The Official B!tch about the secondary/pass coverage thread
The frustrating thing is the Pats, for whatever reasons, can't draft/develop corners. Therefore, if they wish to improve upon a position that has been dreadful for 5 years now, they are going to have to sign a FA. And that is going to be very costly.

This team appears once again to be able to beat the Sisters Of The Poor and fall to good teams.
If this team was 5-1 that would be good to say. I want wins right now.. I don't give a rat's ass if its 41-38 or 15-12 anymore.a

I'm hesitant to blame this all on a talent issue. It's the same scouting department that's rebuilt the offense and the front seven. And from watching our DBs play, they all seem to be playing the same technique. Cover schemes also have been vanilla.

What worries me though is that Bill and his picked staff don't have a philosophy/schemes to deal with the newer NFL that favors receivers. Remember the old days when our secondary would play smashmouth ball-crushing recevers at the line and also making guys "pay". You can't do a lot of that stuff anymore and it seemed to be Belichick's trademark.

Not from I've seen. Do you have the All-22 view, though, because I may be wrong. But it looks like the Pats change things up back there a lot... to the same results.

Re: The Official B!tch about the secondary/pass coverage thread
I assume the coaches teach the same techniques as they did back in the Super Bowl days. New coaches, for sure, which plays a role. There are a lot of factors here all contributing to some degree: coaching, talent (or perceived lack thereof), "point of emphasis" pass coverage interpretation (a la Polian and the CC)...
Bottom line is that this pass defense is lousy, and it does not seem like a quick fix is in the offering.
