Default Devin McCourty

After the bashing he took last week, he deserves his own thread this week.
I would have to go back and watch the film, but from memory he may have caught more than he allowed, with 2 picks and the only completion against him I remember was on the defensive right sideline when he was over there.
And no the late TD was NOT his man, he had the outside receiver and was the closest only because he left his man when the ball went up.

Excellent day by McCourty, perhaps Curran will sit down and interview him this afternoon too.

He was solid although his first interception was more a case of Fitzpatrick making a bad throw. He makes a good throw and that's a TD. The second interception was simply brilliant however. Great adjustment and played the ball perfectly.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.

Hopefully this is the game we all look back to as the game that Devin started to turn things around.

McCourty has now been really good for 2.9 of the last 3 games. That .1 of a game just came at a really bad time.

Good game for McCourty. He answered the bell, that's for sure.

McCourty got more blame than he deserved last week, and will probably get more praise than he deserves this week, so it evens out in a weird way. On his first INT, he was beaten, but the ball was underthrown and he made a good play on it. It's tempting to write it off as Fitzpatrick making a mistake, but McCourty still deserves a lot of credit for capitalizing on it and making them pay. Second INT was a fantastic play on the ball, though. Great body control, very athletic play to get himself in position to make the grab.

No, no, no. On the first one, McCourty was playing perfect technique. Fitzpatrick couldn't lead the WR because there was safety help, and the S would have picked it if there was that much more air under it.

He was playing trail technique and Chung was closing so he wasn't beaten.
