Re: It's over!
Well said, I'm with you all the way. I felt every feeling you felt as soon as I saw that infamous SF fumbled punt in OT. When the Giants won that game I became a bag of nerves, it was the worst nightmare playing itself out. I wanted the Niners to win that game so bad and one blunder stole that from us. All the excitement I got from the Raven win went right down the crapper after learning our fateful meeting with Eli again.
The stress leading up to the game was overwhelming at times. I got worked up while sitting at work, worked up while on the treadmill, worked up while watching my kid's hoop game. I kept thinking, crap it's one day closer. I cringed at every Giant interview I saw leading up to the game. Those infamous white game jerseys with the red numbers rose my blood pressure as soon as I saw them on tv. And then the day and night were here. It was time to face the fear. Sure enough, the nightmare plays itself out. Down 9-0 off went the TV, paced around for a while, got a bite to eat, killed some time. Get back to the TV, things are looking up 10-9 at the half. Happy at this point knowing we're getting the ball to start the 2nd half. Elated now, up 17-9, feeling great, yet still anxious, why, well Goober was still out there. OK, long bend but don't break drive, cool a FG, it's still 17-12, things are cool, things are ok, the offense is getting it's confidence, we're getting the ball back. Let's just go back down and atleast get that FG back. Oh crap, it's happening, we're punting the ball back to Goober only up 5. Off goes the TV. More pacing, threw in some laundry, tv still not on. I can't find the strength to even turn it back on. Now it's 9:30, has to be close to the end. Giants are in the redzone we're up 2, time is ticking away. I sat, I teared up and accepted the fact that we weren't going to win it after the Giant TD. I keep the strength up and watch the final drive knowing in my heart it wasn't going to happen. The last heave by Brady, it's tipped, Gronk is there, I scream, the ball hits the turf, it's over. It's over.
My insides are ripped apart. Eli did it to us again, that SOB did it to us again.
No sleep, road map eyes all day at work. Glum faces on the road to work and at work. So damn empty. The nightmare played itself out.
But like you said, atleast it's over, atleast it's over. Let the healing begin.
