You are right on this one. I remember to start the season Sammy Morris was on a great roll and then he was injured and missed the rest of the season. I think it was the Monday Night game against the Bengals. Also at that point Maroney was hurt as well, so for a while their was not much at runningback.

I also remember Maroney came back later in the season and many Patriot fans were getting real excited about him again, he looked like he could develop into a Pro-Bowler at the end of that year and the playoffs. The next year they set a Patriots record for rushing yards in a season with their running back by commitee approach, with JMD as their cordinator.

He also had a better line, better receivers, and a much easier schedule in 2008. He's been an abject failure in KC outside of when Weis was his OC.

David Patten played in 6 games total in 2003, while Branch and Givens were both in their 2nd season. Troy Brown was basically as productive in 2006 as he was in 2003 so idk why you didn't list him for the 2006 team. Additionally, they had nothing at running back. Antowain Smith in his 30s and Kevin Faulk. The 2006 team had much better running backs than the 2003 team. There's a reason they never ran the ball in 2003.

Too bad that "production" didn't lead to any wins.

Weis had two great years at ND and actually made Brady Quinn look like an NFL QB. He got a huge extension after that then lasted 3 more seasons. His failure at Notre Dame pails in comparison to McDaniels not even finishing his 2nd season in Denver while in the process dismantling Denver's roster. Unlike McDaniels, Weis was extremely successful in his job after Notre Dame. St. Louis's offense hugely regressed this year.

Sounds pretty unprepared to me.

They scored 17 points on Sunday and 14 points in the McDaniels superbowl. I wasn't aware 14 is the same amount as 17.

I'm not judging Bill Belichick's career based off one game.

Yup, that's it, I'm clueless. The offense being unable to execute a screen play isn't the offensive coordinator's fault at all!


I really do hope I'm wrong about McDaniels and hopefully his experiences in Denver and St. Louis have humbled him a little bit but I don't trust what changes he's gonna bring in to the offense. Getting a "deep threat" isn't something I see being successful.

1) Whether or not I'm intentionally trolling you're very butthurt over McDaniels' 14 point performance in superbowl 42. I wasn't aware it was arguably the best 14 point offensive showing in NFL history.

2) The fact you're only argument is an ad-hominem attack on how I lack knowledge about Josh McDaniels also tells me you don't know very much either tbh.

I'm going to say one more thing and be done with this argument. Go back and look at the play by play for the Patriots/Eagles Super Bowl. The Pats' offense went three and out like six times in that game. Yet, that makes Weis a genius and McDaniels and O'Brien morons. I guess they were quality three and outs.

I think adding Matt Forte would be a MUST! Our running game isn't keeping D Coordinators up at nite. Forte would be a BEAST for us. When we had A Smith & C Dillion we won championships. We have to keep D honest.
Also locking up Welker via Tag or FA $igning cutting ties with Ocho adding Lloyd or Colston or Both. Don't know if its feesable with cap and our other needs on Defense but Forte/Welker/Colston/Lloyd/TE Duo Is Down Right SCARY!
I'm sure McDaniels would be a kid in a candy store with that to work with.

So the answer to improving the patriots is too sign 4 top free agents on offense: Welker, Forte, Lloyd and Colston????/????????

I agree that our offense would be better with this re-signing and three additions.

SUGGESTION
If we really have enough cap room to sign FOUR major free agents, perhaps ONE of them should be on defense. Perhaps we should re-sign Andre Carter and Anderson or their replacements.
