Default TE contigency plan

I am optimistic about Gronk playing and playing effectively, but what is plan b if he can't or doesn't make it through the whole contest?

Do they activate Butler, or swing Vollmer at RT and use Solder at TE?
Thoughts?

Don't. Worry.

They only way Gronk won't finish the game is if they have to saw his foot off.

Man, if I could have one wish, it would be for Gronk to not get injured in the AFCCG. World peace can wait 'til I get another one.

I'll save my wish for another few SB wins before Brady and BB hang it up for good.

Pats TE Contingency plans:

Plan a.
Gronk spends the week learning how to run on his hands and catch with his feet

Plan b.
The Pats sign one of the other Gronkowski brothers... and he runs downfield with Rob on his shoulders

Plan c.
Gronk takes the snap and Brady throws Gronk (in a perfect spiral) into the endzone. (This will also be known as the "Bugs Bunny Contingency")

Plan d.
Stephen Hawking graciously loans Gronk his motorized wheelchair. To which Gronk attatches a butterfly net for Brady to throw into.

To summarize,...
There is no plan that does not include Rob Gronkowski.
He is the Alpha.
He is the Omega.

over and out.

I think there are two parts to the contingency plan, and they are based on how confident they are that Vollmer can play, and play effectively. If Vollmer is available Solder can play TE when needed; if not then do they go with Cannon as an additional blocker or Butler?

First, who takes Gronkowski's place on the game day roster in this scenario. I'm guessing that would mean they activate Butler even though he wouldn't get any passes thrown his way; you don't want to play the game with only on TE (one that doubles as a RB) against a team with a good pass rush, do you?

The second part would be the game plan, which I guess would mean more snaps for either Tiquan or Ochocinco - but it could also mean more plays involving the running backs. I doubt that would be Ridley; more likely one or more of BJGE, Woodhead and/or Faulk. It could also result in more 2-RB formations, with Polite in the backfield.

I still think Ridley should be active to provide a threat for the long run....Faulk is useless other than being a blocker IMHO...

The only long run I see him being involved in is the long run the Giants defender will be making toward our endzone, with a bakery fresh fumble that Ridley just served up.

I have to agree. In a game of this magnitude you want the guy who has never fumbled. It doesn't mean that he wouldn't in the big game (as there is a first time for everything), but give me BJGE. I doubt the Giants would be fearing anything about Ridley anyway. They're not a running team. The Giants are preparing for a passing team right now, I'm guessing.
