Here are a few tidbits from today’s afternoon practice session…•Marcus Pollard spoke with some reporters, and quickly lived up to his reputation as a personable guy and a great quote. Mayo seems like such a great kid. Wow. And Chad seems to have matured alot. This team is going to be so much fun to root for, what with Maroney on the verge of stardom, CJ about to break out, Dave Thomas back on the field; Merriweather and Mayo. This season is going to be a fantastic ride.
I can almost see a whole new dynasty forming, in its infancy...

I was thinking about this, and your post motivated me to check out the numbers. Of the gameday active 45 (or at least my predicted 45):
17% are in their first year with the Pats
64% have not won a Super Bowl with the Pats (or anyone else I believe)
82% were not around for all 3 Super Bowl titles
I know that I fall into the trap of thinking of these players as all part of the dynasty. Truth is most of them are still itching to experience the thrill of a championship. Not sure if this means the Pats are already on the way to dynasty part II or if Brady defines the dynasty regardless of who he is playing with.

Helping with that is Oakland's ah em....low #1, I mean...2cond round pick next year. We are built for now and beyond. Jets in CAP ruins, Eric the Rat looking for work and Goober 18 and Marvin another notch down on the "diminshing returns" slope. To quote Flounder: "This is great !!!"

What are you talking about?? Oakland low 1? Do you mean SD high 2??

You are correct my friend, my bad, I'm confusing myself with last year's draft, regardless we have 2 #2's in the 2009 NFL Draft, again, built for the now and the future.

Yeah, that was an easy to forget trade but having our full load of picks plus an extra #2 is solid heading into the draft - not as good as two #1s but an extra #2 is a big deal.
1 #1s Pats and
2 #2s Pats and SD and
2 #3s Pats and Comp Asante Samuel
2 #4s Pats and Comp Donte Stallworth
Five premium picks in the first three rounds and two fourth rounders. Another double draft. Scott Pioli and Bill Belichick stack the deck in their favor once again.

Forgot about comp picks - I don't think we signed many (any ?) qualifying UFA and Samuel will, at worst, get us a #4. Maybe the rare #3 comp.
