Default Belichick closing in on nice mark

From NFLHistory Twitter via Mike Reiss, a win Sunday makes Belichick the first coach to have FIVE 13-plus-win seasons. He and Seifert are the only ones with four.

Belichick's 13-plus-win seasons:
2003: 14-2
2004: 14-2
2007: 16-0
2010: 14-2

Patriots were also 12-4 under Belichick in 2006, and the Patriots have 10-plus wins in 10 of the last 11 seasons.

Yeah, I know, we don't want to go all-Colts here and get overly excited about regular season wins, especially after the last two play-off appearances. Still, this team's long-standing success under this coach (and QB!) is in itself something to savor and acknowledge.

It's been a wonderful time to be a Pats fan for sure.

Yep, too bad I only started watching football a couple years and missed everything, like... everything.

Thanks, Rico, for pointing that out, even if it does require counting one last chicken before it's hatched.

I agree that the Colts go overboard to tout regular season accomplishments (for all the obvious reasons), but I sometimes think that we Pats fans overcompensate in the opposite direction by downplaying the many other records this team has set beyond five trips to the AFCCG, four trips to the SB and three rings...not that the latter are chopped liver.

Sure has. Too bad the Pats stink at drafting players

What this team has been able to accomplish in the past 10 years has been remarkable. While we all prefer to win Championships over anything else I would find being a fan hollow if the only definition of a good year includes a banner. I look forward to every game whether being there live or watching on TV and look forward to the journey as much as the destination. Based on how we are currently built it certainly seems like we have at least another 4 or 5 years of competing for the Championship. Great job by Kraft and Belichick for keeping this thing going.

I don't think a fan is hollow for thinking that way. I mean, when you do as well in the regular season as we do every season, getting knocked out of the playoffs is a huge blow. Its hard to look back at some seasons and think "That was great!" right away. Takes time to appreciate it.

Its very nice and consistent but gotta start winning some playoff games.I thought last year was one of the few times where BB was outcoached in the playoffs by the opposition.

I think that about 2,000 of your 2,666 posts have made this point already

It's not that I disagree...
