That actually makes it worse.

Apparently, they never talked to Walsh.

They got the info not even from a secondary source, but a tertiary one.

I think they got it from ColtsInsider.

That's despicable.

And they really deserve everything that's coming to them.

Wow, that reeked of remorse, not to mention being heavy on detail...

Looks like the pic on there with the lombardi trophy, will be the back page

it says ' Sorry Pats"

Too little to late for Belichick ,and Kraft I think.

I hate that picture. That was a crap-ass apology, and the picture just made it worse. I want to take that trophy and beat them with it.

The Hearald, Thomase, and all their ilk are pond scum. They put the team and their fans through months of hell just so that they could sell a few extra papers. They deserve nothing but our complete and total contempt. And now they issue an "apology". All they are doing is trying to cover their butts and keep from getting sued. Just pathetic.

Apology
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

On Feb. 2, 2008, the Boston Herald reported that a member of the New England Patriots [team stats]’ video staff taped the St. Louis Rams’ walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI. While the Boston Herald based its Feb. 2, 2008, report on sources that it believed to be credible, we now know that this report was false, and that no tape of the walkthrough ever existed.

Prior to the publication of its Feb. 2, 2008, article, the Boston Herald neither possessed nor viewed a tape of the Rams’ walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI, nor did we speak to anyone who had. We should not have published the allegation in the absence of firmer verification.

The Boston Herald regrets the damage done to the team by publication of the allegation, and sincerely apologizes to its readers and to the New England Patriots [team stats]’ owners, players, employees and fans for our error.

That is still more then I have ever seen a newspaper do, especially if it going to be a full back page retraction. Seriously, what else could they do?
