Default Brandon McGowan

The Patriots are reportedly planning to release SS Brandon McGowan.
This news comes on the same day free agent Dashon Goldson is visiting New England, though it's not clear if it's more than coincidental. McGowan was just signed a week ago. The Pats obviously didn't like what they saw early in camp.

Its a damn shame that injuries kept getting in his way. He played well when he was on the field.

If this is true, don't be surprised to see the Jets pick him up. They can use some help at saftey, and it may be their way of getting even for us picking up Ellis.

I really like the way he play early in 2010. Or was that 2009?

Solid-citizen vet, released early to give him a chance to catch on elsewhere?

He had stretch of like four good games in 2009. I can't remember if he was slightly injured after that or just started sucking. No big loss.

I think that is when the injury bug started to bite him.

I remember he was having trouble with play action and discipline in pass protection and got replaced by Sanders. He seemed to get better at that as 2009 went along. His real strength was in helping make opposing tight ends disappear while simultaneously supporting the runas the big nickel safety, against guys like Gates, Clark, etc. He may simply have come back from injury short a step and no longer be able to do what he did best.

If they sign Dashon Goldson in his place, it is an upgrade.
