Here is a good read on randy and what could possibly happen with him it is kinda like a double edge sword. If he is franchised will he get mad and decide to play when he wants to play. Or can the pats make him happy with a decent contract i had no idea he left 18 million on the table in oakland. I would think he would want to try and make some of those lost earnings back.

Maybe I'm just a sucker, but I think as a player, Moss turned a corner this year as far as priorities. We're not going to get the deal we had this year, but he could still sign here for cheap. He was dying for a ring this year. And as much as the loss killed everyone, the Pats still have the best chance of winning one next year.

That said, if he goes elsewhere or wants huge money, I wouldn't be all that surprised

They have to cut Stallworth before they can negotiate a contract with Moss. As a result, the franchise tag is inevitable. However, Randy will understand that.

My guess is with the recent restraining order, the Pats never threw him under the bus. My guess is that has more meaning.

the question is how many other teams will take a chance on moss. other than the colts most teams might think its too much of risk because not everyone has brady and belichick.
of course the jets might do something to screw up the talks.i fully expect that .

Leaving money on the table at the end of a salary backloaded contract is a bit of a misconception. He was never going to see that money because if they had not worked out a trade they eventually would have cut him. Did he leave money on the table when he came here? Sure, but not all that much. With his baggage, much like TO, he was worth about what TO got out of Jerry which was $7.5M times 3. Randy got $5M here having met his incentives. So he left about $2M on the table.

Franchise for WR this year is close to $7.5M. Harrison's deal averages $9M, but he will never see the end of that deal either. I think if Randy comes back it will have to be for a little less than the franchise and a little more than he made this season. $6-7M for 5 years ($30-35M) with $20M in bonus/guarantees. Randy turns 31 this month.

Now stack that up against Stallworth who 2 years younger and is signed for $30M through 2012 with $10M in bonus/guarantees that people keep obcessing about as if it's $20M...

The Colts can't afford him with Harrison and Wayne's cap. Plus Polian is really antsey about high priced FA who tend to burn him.

Jacksonville has a pretty decent QB and a LOT of cap space.

I don't think Randy would follow the money to any place without a top flight QB, though, and there are few of those situations to choose from.

he's certainly entitled to make whatever "lost earnings" remain after his incentive bonuses this year. however, he'll only be able to do that quickly if there is a market of teams who really believe that he has really turned the corner.

i think the perception will be that the best chance for him to stay on the straight and narrow is to remain with the patriots and so he is probably more valuable in their eyes than he will be in any other team's eyes (assuming that there is truly nothing to the unfortunate mess with his friend in florida). therefore, i think their chances of keeping him are reasonably good.

Thats what you guys think, and thats what the media likes to portray. But if other teams do their research, like BB and Pioli did, they'll come away realising that the only place he gave up in was in Oakland, and that was on a historically bad team. They'll realize his problems besides Oakland, were never really big problems to begin with. They'll realize he was in Minnesota for 7 years and was basically a great player throughout the 7 years. Now how many of those years was he on a great team?? In his rookie season, and thats it. The idea that he cant perform or becomes a problem unless he's in a specific controlled environment is bogus. I think the difference between his performance from this year to last has more to do with how bad Oakland was for him instead of how good NE was for him.
