1. Why is the greatest offense of all time only able to put up 14 points on the scoreboard?? JM what kind of gameplan was that? It became pretty obvious that the Pats could not do anything to run in that game. But we insisted on wasting our first downs by handing off to Maroney for no yards. Leaving only 2 downs for Brady to get a 1st and leading to punts.
2. In a 7-3 game, why on god's green earth do you not kick that field goal? I know it's a 45 yard field goal, but that's hardly unmakeable. 3 points is better than 0 points. We have those 3 points in our back pocket and we're looking at overtime instead of a desperate drive with 30 seconds left on the clock, and ultimately a loss.
3. Who in the world called that defense on the last play of the Giants go ahead touchdown? Why would you bring the entire house and leave just a single man, one on one to try to stop the red zone scoring machine Plaxico Buress? At the very least he should have been doubled in the endzone, tripled if possible. Instead the Pats gambled when they didn't have to, and LOST the gamble big time.
4. Hobbs was burned like a torch all night long, most memorably by Buress for the gamewinner. I'll say it now, and I'll say it again, Hobbs is NO starting corner. He should be a nickle on this team at best. Pats need to acquire some real DBs, especially if Samuel ends up leaving. There's only so much DB weaknesses that the DL can disguise.
5. Our offensive lined performed like whipped dogs. Hochstein was a human turnstile. It was extremely frustrating to watch. I mean what the hell happened up front? Brady has no chance to win if he doesn't even have time to get off a throw.
6. The Pats just let ANOTHER Manning win the Superbowl. I mean wow, just take a moment to take in how disgusting that thought is...
7. The Giants DID get lucky on some big plays on the final drive. The 4th and 1 conversion, and especially the long pass to Tyree. The Pats should have called timeout to regroup and think it over after that play. Instead they let the defense play it out and ultimately lose the game.
8. 59 seconds to victory and then they give up the TD to Buress. This was the ONE game the Pats played only 59 minutes. And it cost them, big time.
9. Whenever they mention the Super Bowl on TV and Late night shows I have to change the channel. It's just too disgusting to look it or listen to.
10. We couldn't run, we couldn't pass, and we couldn't hold the Giants when it came to crunch time. In sum, the New England Patriots, our favorite team, CHOKED in the biggest game of the year. And this feeling totally SUCKS! I don't know how to fix near-perfection. But it was anything BUT perfect, in the game that really mattered.

Pretty much all of that is true. It's frustrating. Basically, you just have to try to not think about the game. I'm moving on to next season, ASAP, b/c that game was the biggest missed opportunity one could have, and there was no reason for them to fail. There are so many things in that game, as you point out, that could've gone differently. But it is what it is.

Karen Guregian has a good article in todays Herald. About how she asked Randy Moss if there was any scenario he could envision where Tom Brady could be rattled, and his answer after he thought for a moment was only if he had to face the Giants front 4 with 6 on 11, which is exactly what transpired. No coordinator could overcome that, and contrary to what some want to believe, he tried everything and in that situation nothing can work.

Only explanation is BB has lost faith in AV's replacement. When he left people here trashed him and totally undervalued how this teams confidence in him impacted game planning and play calling.

The guy calling the D in the RED HOODED SWEATSHIRT.

Hobbs outplayed Asante the Franchise Tag Samuel all night. Had more passes defensed. Secured the only turnover of the night only to have the offense piss it away. He covered Plax all night and he was a non factor until an ill advised and poorly executed blitz left him 1 on 1 in the back of the EZ with the game on the line. Hobbs was just doing his job, and he got hung out to dry by his teamates and coaches.

Yup, blame the backup...it was the pro bowlers who were blowing chunks most of the evening. This Oline always needs help, and even with it against a top flight pass rush they have long been the elephant in the livingroom. There is an old saying, just because you get away with something doesn't make it right. Overhyped and under talented. You can coach and scheme around that until someone calls your bluff. Spagnolo called it.

I disagree McD tried everything, in fact, it looked like for a while they were just stubbornly trying to have their way. They didn't give the OL any help or leave Brady any extra protection. And they didn't try the power formation that worked so well against the Chargers.

The good news is that as a fan it could never ever get any worse as far as dissapointment. There is no future scenario that could play out that would match this. If the team becomes mediocre ones expectations are lowered accordingly. In this case the highest, highest, perfect expectation is met by defeat creating a massive shock. So if you can deal with the this you are in good shape going forward...

I was really pissed off when they got TWO turnover from the GIANTS and can't do jack about...if that was in the regular season, they would had AT LEAST make a field goal... They know they can't run from the beginning, but right after the INT..they run 3 times and out, the next one is the same crap.
If you have the best offense, for Christ sake...why not spread 5 wide and burn their secondary?!?...

Exactly. If we went in as 12-4, 13-3, (edit, ok, anything except 16-0) in that range, and lost that game, yeah, I'm still pissed, but I move on rather quickly. This was brutal b/c of expectations and the history at stake.

Once question that is bugging me is WHY does BB not have confidence in Gostkowski? I mean the kid hasn't really given us any reason to think he sucks. I don't have as much confidence in him as I did in Vinatieri but then again Vinatieri missed 2 FG's in SB 38 so he's not perfect either.
48 yards in dome, I don't care if Welker kicks it, you have to try when faced with 4th and 13.
