Default Putting things in perspective

Here are some things I would not trade for going back in time to get a win last night:
-My beautiful and understanding wife.
-A great dog (some kind of lab mutt)
-A job I am lucky to have
-A forgiving and understanding family
-A good head on my shoulders
-Friends
-I am relatively healthy physically.

In the big picture, would winning that game have made my life that much better? It certainly would have made it better. I am a lifelong Patriots fan, since birth in 1970. But ultimately the game is about entertainment, like chess or tiddly winks. Would I get this upset about my favorite tiddly winks player losing the world championship? I got way too involved this season. Usually I can keep myself under control, get sad for that night and the next day, but then dust myself off and move on. This loss feels different, and it is to some degree, but come on neuronet, it's just a game of tiddly winks!

The difference is that Brady calmly calls audibles while Manning flaps like a chicken, barks 11 code words, and makes sure every camera in the stadium has documented his once-in-a-generation (and patented, I believe) ability to see a defensive formation and change the play. Both have the same effect, but Manning transcends measurable human intellect while Brady merely chooses a different play.

you're completely right
family, your health, and friends come before sports
but to me and many others in here the pats are right behind those other things

Yes, and when those other things are going well, it is natural to take them for granted, so that the contingent factor becomes the most important. It is only natural. In some ways, we are lucky enough to be able to indulge in this. It means our lives are going pretty well. A homeless person is worried about food and getting rolled in an alley. We are sitting here worrying about a game. We are very lucky.

I'd give up most things for a win last night.
-I'd give up my Dog. I love him, but I loved the Patriots long before I got him.
-I'd give up a kidney.
-I wouldn't give up my friends and close family members.
-I'd give up my right pinky
-I'd give up just about any job
-I don't have a wife or girlfriend, so I'd give up a stranger
-I'd give up my Macbook Pro I love, my Ibanez Jem, my Gibson SG, any material items

Yeah, I wanted that win BADLY.

Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

LMAO at the right pinky. Dude, that is classic. Thank you for making me laugh out loud for the first time in over 24 hours.

Here are some things I'd give up:
-I'd shorten my life expectancy by three months.
-One of my little toes.
-Both of my nipples (I'm a guy so who cares).
-My tattoo.
-I'd stop listening to Howard Stern for the rest of my life (this is major, I love his show).
-The 2007 Sox win (not the 2004 though)
-Kevin Garnett traded to Lakers.

Strangers are overrated...and made of glass.

actually its been times that ive been down when ive immersed myself more in sports
which is why i think i actually took last yrs loss almost as bad as this one (hated my job at the time and was still getting over a breakup with a girl i had dated for over three yrs)

The 07 Sox win would be tough, I'm also a huge HUGE Sox Fan, but I think I'd be satisfied with just 04 and a Perfect Patriots Season.

Rather than give something up, lets pour ourselves into the Celtics, whether you love Basketball or not. Think about it, It would KILL these ESPN types if Boston goes back into the winner's circle.

Try it. The thought of a Celts win is keeping me a little sane!
