Default Stop Blaming the Defense

Ive heard our linebackers are too old and slow

we have no pass rush

our secondary sucks

we need to upgrade the defense

in case you guys didnt hear, we let up 17 pts to a team that last time got 35...and we let up 17 points to the NFC champion of the NFL....a team that previously we beat by 3....

in case you are wondering, those stats are amazing

and in case anyone forgot, the defense was on the field a lot longer then nomral, seeing as to how the Offense could stay on the field for more then 2 mins at a time usually....

so stop blaming the defense, blame the right group, blame the offense (even the special teams stepped up)

our offense scored 14 pts in the Superbowl, the lowest all year, our next lowest was 20, 6 down, almost a td less....and that was in outside

FOURTEEN POINTS PPL, thats how much the best offense the NFL has ever seen scored in the SB.....blame it, not the defense

time of possession was the same..Pats offense scored when they had to to take the lead...defense was handed a 4 point lead with 2:40 to play. A championship defense seals the deal. Every game is different and you need to do what it takes to get the win. The offense scored in crunch time, the defense couldn't hold.

i agree that you can't blame the defense... but the previous superbowl(eagles) the defense was able to hold onto a lead.

this is two years in a row that the pats have been eliminated because the defense couldn't come up with a play to end the game and stop a drive.

A team should not go 83 yards and score a td.

alot of the loss was just fluke plays but the giants made them... give them credit

i agree with that, which is the only way the defense should be getting hit right now...b/c they offense came up when the play was absolutely needed, and yet the defense did not come up with it in crunch time...

but i am of hte opinion that the game should not have been close with 2:30 remaining, and it would not have been, had our offense done its job, which is to score at least 21 pts a game, but more like 30

now last year vs. Colts - PATS defense gave up big lead. Offense with 'inferior' receivers score 34.
However, this year the offense scores only 14 points and we lose by 3 - worst playoff game by BRady / Offense yet in last 7 years. It should of never came down to the last drive by NYG. The D played pretty damn good except for the last which still had that Houdini escape with crazy / lucky catch on 3rd down.......Brady / offense line were schooled most of the game by the pass rush.

maroney - 14 carries
brady - 40 pass attempts

no balance. it did the packers in and did the pats in.

Why was Ellis Hobbs is on Plexiglass single coverage? He is giving up 6+ inches. Even if he doesn't slip, you can't cover him on a goal line fade without pass interference.

I understand were your coming from and you have valid points. But they didn't come through when it mattered most. This was deja vu of last season. This loss will be very difficult to overcome.

I agree that we need to stop blaming the defense, however, it would have been nice to see them stop the Giants on that last drive, as the offense covered up for the defense's shortcomings throughtout a good portion of the year. THe defense started to get exposed in the last five or six games. Harrison needs to knock down that Tyree pass where the ball was being held against his helmet. But yes, overall the defense played very well.
