Default Possible side effect of the lock-out

The players have been out four months or so now.

With no offseason workout program.
And with no formal testing program.

Do you think the players will come back, um, bigger?

Possible, I reckon we will certainly see a slower pace for the first few matches!

But alot of players are working out! They aren't seeing this as a holiday!

I think Belichick's emphasis on character over the last few drafts definitely helps. I can't see guys like Mayo, Chung, and McCourty not showing up in tip-top shape, and it sounds like Mayo in particular has been checking with guys to make sure they're working out.

By testing you mean PED testing? Are the players out of drug testing right now?

I think the op meant bigger as in juiced up, not fatter. And I doubt it. The guys that use peds today are using hgh, which wasnt tested for anyway. So I doubt much changes in that regard.

I don't doubt it.

Maybe every player on the Pats has, maybe none.....idk. I bet that a good number of NFL players took advantage of the opportunity though.

Did not know that. If HGH is not tested for then everybody should and most probably are taking it. What if somebody is found out to be taking HGH (without testing)? Are there any consequences to that?

No way. If you take HGH you need to be on it for probably a good month or two. Then it stays in your system for a while. Then once the lockout ends the players will come off of it and lose the mass they gained before the season starts. It won't make a difference.

If your taking it during the season, thats another story.

Once you come off that stuff it really doesn't matter if you've been on it or not

If it were up to me, people would have to pass a test demonstrating that they do understand the fundamental concepts about PED's and drug testing before being allowed to post here.

..Hey!! that post looks suspiciously familiar...hmmmm.....

Hehehe, my bad; forgot about the strict qualifications required over here. Let me get a PhD on the subject first and I will come back to engage in the intellectual debate.

And, I was actually serious about the question... why does the NFL not adhere to WADA guidelines for drug testing?
