Default Dear Dummies- GET IT DONE

I know i cant be the only one tired of this, you exteneded this for another week, yet were in the same boat we were in last week.. The union to decertify, lawsuit litigation- BLAH BLAH BLAH AND MORE BLAH

this thing has gone long enough, if they come up with the lawsuit option all this was pomp and circumstance... Its time to get a deal done, want another extention fine, but not if its going to be like this again next week. If not dont meet today throw this thing in the courts and let the lawyers settle it for you... because its a shame grown men have to act like babies... I still blame the owners for this mess, and i hope if a lock out occurs today, that fans strike against the owners like Bob Kraft , buy not renewing season tix, dont go to games, which you pay 40 bucks to park, and cancel the direct tv...

Walk away from football???? no none of can really admit we can walk away but we can fight back as fans.... if this thing is ment for the courts do it now, but for the sake of your reps, get it done now you dummies...

Interesting Tweet from Brees. Not optimistic.

This Tweet just in from Brady...
"Just finished walking Giselle's mini-poodles Mimi and Fifi. Next up diaper changing and feeding the little guy as G sleeps off last night's dance party. I retired early as the wine coolers and cosmos got me all giggly and set my head spinning.

The NFLPA just called and told me to forget about participating as a figurehead in the negotiations. Said my dance video and headband was the final straw. Bummer "

Speaking as an 18-year season ticket holder, here is my heartfelt, thoroughly researched and thought-out message to the owners and players: screw you both and your billions of $$$. Wake me up when it's over, whatever year that happens to be.

In all reality to the fans of the game this situation is not a pressing issue till August. Both sides are trying to involve the fans and endear themselves to the fans with comments in the media but the we just want them to get it done. Both sides are dug in and both sides are not willing to compromise, because the harm done between now and August will only be minor in nature as opposed to if we were closer to season. The draft will go on as planned and more than likely football will be played in August or September. No work stopage has ever lasted more than a month. There’s 5+/- mos from now till start of season. This situation means more to sites like this and business revolving around the game than to the fans at this point.

A big warning to both sides. Both the NFLPA and the owners need to become more willing to compromise than they’ve shown to this point. When it comes to labor-related lawsuits neither side can be sure of victory and both should really fear the consequences of defeat.

They should look at 1987 as an example of losing when you think you’ve won. That strike was a total defeat for the NFLPA. After 24 days on strike about 15% of players crossed the picket line (some famous players: Largent, Randy White, etc). Having lost all leverage, the players had to go back to work without winning free agency, without winning a guaranteed share of league revenue, without even reaching a deal on a new cba. The owners’ victory was so convincing that in 1989 the NFLPA decertified. We all know story that under federal labor law workers gain standing to file class-action lawsuits against their employers only if they are not part of a union. So, having been crushed in their 1987 strike the players ended up winning in court in the end.

Sometimes it’s better to bend a little when you feel as though you have the hammer than to break when you've lost leverage.

Brees comes off as immature and divisive in his comments. What happened to the gag order? Brees, and twitter happy players like him, is one reason the negotiations are not going well. If the owners do show the PA more financial info what’s to say that Brees doesn’t tweet it to the world. This is why there is a lack of trust.

The ship has sailed on some of the issues Brees is tweeting about and all we want Drew is results don’t update us on the process and to cover your @&& if this thing goes to litigation. Brees may be a leader on the field but he certainly doesn’t know how to lead in this situation.

I think player reps should not be in the room w/De Smith because they get emotional during the process. They also don’t like to lose and it become an issue of not losing rather than negotiating. Once the emotion leaves the room and it’s strictly about money is when this thing will get solved. Just like players have agents when negotiating their contracts they have their agent in this process in De Smith, let him do his job so emotion doesn’t get in the way.

If they're not careful this $9 bil they are fighting about will become $6 bil. I can tell you one thing for sure, if the fans get turned off they will have to increase expenses by a wide margin to get them back.

The owners have been all over the press about the negotiations. Seriously, did you read yesterday where they revealed what was being talked about, and they blamed the union for not compromising.

For the record, I was a card carrying Teamster working warehouses and driving cabs while in college. I participated in TWO strikes while a Boston School teacher in the 70s...an active participant. That being said, I can't be more against the player side of this. They get ZERO sympathy from me.

It seems to me the biggest obsicle is getting the owners to open their books. But what does that mean. The players want a lot more than just what the New England Patriots made as an organization. They want part of the revenue from the non football use of the stadium They want to see the books on Patriot place. They want Kraft to open his books to see if his other businesses.benefit from the Patriots. Where woiuld it end?

If the players want to share in those kinds of revenues, why aren't the owners getting THEIR share of Manning's endorsement deals. Every player in the NFL has a HUGE advantage both during and after their careers than most of us never get. Some use it well others squander it, but they ALL have that advantage. They can't have it both ways.

In the last CBA the players got a GREAT deal that was pushed through by a commissioner who was heading out the door and didn't want any labor issues to tarnish his mediocre carreer. Everyone knew it was a bad deeal then and would have to be adjusted.

PLayer income has SKYROCKETED in the last decade. They will still be way ahead of the game even if they gave back ALL of what the owners are asking. Teams make huge investments in player developement only to see the players now being made FA's after only 4 or 5 years.

Sorry for the rant, but this is just so stupid and short sighted....AND so unnecessary.
