Agreed, that wasn't the reason we lost but he shouldn't have been benched.

At the beginning of the game, I didn't like it. Welker was damn clever there, and good for him. But I thought, "well, I disagree, but I can respect the move."

Now? I agree with you. Don't punish your players for being p'd off.

Our failure to take advantage of our 1st quarter opportunities cost us this game, if we got the jets on the back foot it's a different ending today.

Oh well, who knows when the next snap of the ball will be.....

It might well have been. I disliked the move even before the interception, and as soon as that happened I texted my cousin saying "if they lose by one possession, that will be the most second-guessed move of the Belichick era".

Of course, I was wrong, since the coaching staff outdid itself with the fake punt later in the same half.

I hate to say it, but the team came out unfocused and sloppy. I have to point my finger at BB benching welker throwing off the focus of the team and bringing in a big distraction right before kickoff

lots of things went wrong today...the botched fake punt, the pick, the lack of a pass rush, the pats didnt force any turnovers. they had all kinds of problems

It was the right move. It's the Patriots' way (BB) or the highway. The benching wasn't just for this game, it was a message to the team that will resonate for a long time. It sends the young players a message.

Do you think Belichick was trying to make a point about how classy the organization is in benching Welker? Almost showing Ryan how he controls his players unlike how Ryan handles his players. I just can't see doing that in a do or die game.
