Default Schefter: McDaniels on Ravens' initial short list

For what it's worth: Adam Schefter reported on NFLN that Josh McDaniels has been identified among the Ravens' top four head coach prospects. This leads me to wonder if there will be another interruption in our playoff preparations a la Charlie Weis for McDaniels to prepare to fly down for an interview. I personally don't feel McDaniels is ready to be head coaching material.

I thought it was odd that with all the talk about the Dolphins and Falcons HC that no Patriot coaches had been mentioned... just lots of talk about Cowboy personnel... not that I mind.

I can't recall what the rule is - can assistants talk during the bye week but not during the playoffs? Or is it just "rumor central" until a team is out of the playoffs?

There are windows where they can travel and be interviewed. Sucks because it DOES take time away from game prep.

Hate to say it but Ravens would be a better choice than many.
EDIT: But that culture change for a YOUNG HC might be too much. Get some more seasoning Josh.

When Schefter also ran down the GM openings, it was surprising there was no mention at all of Pioli for any of the teams, which is good.

I'm being serious when I ask this, but could Ray Lewis handle a HC younger than him? Barely, but Josh is younger.

Two years ago the guy was too green to even be officially named as the OC, and now he is HC material?

Let us not forget, in 1998 Brian Billick was an offensive genius bc his QB could throw bombs to Moss, too.

Funny how that "offensive genius" label works...

Default Ravens must be crazy

With all due respect to Mcdaniels....
You can't seriously tell me that he should be on anyones short list for HC vacancy at this point.

Crazy... he is 27 years old...lots of hype but where is the real leadership experience.

I would be perfectly fine if McDaniels leaves, Pats will have NO problem finding someone better qualified with more experience.

It was his relationship as a pal with Brady that got him promoted in the first place.

Away from this organization he will be 100 times worse than Mangini.

Let's see ... We add Moss, Welker, Stallworth, Morris, etc., and McDaniels suddenly is is an offensive mastermind worthy of a head coaching job at age 31? I don't see how any owner can be serious about this.
