Default Decent Article from ESPN Page 2

It discusses why the Pats are hated on a national level. A little tongue in cheek, but certainly raises some interesting points for those wondering why the team went from a much loved underdog to seemingly universally despised within six years.

The bottom line is if your team keeps winning, envy and despair will drive the fans of other teams to despise you - even if there is nothing really there to despise.

As a Pats fan, lamentations like these always bring a smile to my face.

"New England pretty much has it all, save an incredibly lame-looking mascot (who still manages to outclass Steely McBeam)" -- yes, indeed!

But: "J'ne se quoi" -- qu'est-ce que c'est que ca?

Red face Re: Decent Article from ESPN Page 2

Funny stuff. The longer we keep winning the more despised we become. If we make it 4 titles this year we solidy our position as public enemy number 1 for teams like Pittsburgh and Dallas who years ago never even noticed us. Being able to do it with individuals difficult to hate makes it even more satisfying.

I'd actually break it down to that one reason. Other teams fans hate us because we've been blocking them from a Lombardi for years, and there's no end in sight.

and that last part is the biggest rit there....

if we were declining, it would be allright, we would have had our time, and then gone down.....but the pats just keep going
