Default TD Celebration

Does anyone know the significance of the "swim move" celebration that Moss, Welker and others around the league seem to be doing alot after they score a touchdown? It's cool and all, but does it have any meaning?

"the split" as in "splitting coverage"

thats what Moss started to show he can still split coverage and WElker just copied it.

I thought he was opening an elevator door.

what most people don't know is that in Jr. High, Moss was a district champion in the breaststroke. He has always been proud of this fact and when he scores a td, he likes to go back to the glory days and celebrate a little.

I read a couple months ago it means he "split" the defense. Apparantly some scribes wrote earlier in the year he couldn't gain seperation any more, so it's his answer to them.

For each TD Moss helps the Pats get closer to beating the spread each week.

Now we know! Moss answered it in a recent interview.

Q: After you score a touchdown you do this, what does this [your touchdown celebration] mean?
RM: At the beginning of the year, you guys talked about how I lost my step and really wasn’t into the game of football. Coming off my hamstring injury in training camp that - I don’t even know how long the play was, but it was against the Jets, that long 70-80-something yarder. I thought to myself that physically I didn’t think that I was able to do that, to run like that, because I’m coming straight off a hamstring injury - so for me to be able to part the defense like I did that’s basically me parting the defense. That’s where it came from.
