He's from Chicago but he's a Redskins fan? His high pitched shrills make me reach for the remote. How does he have a job on TV? Oh, I know...

He's a columnist for the Washington Post. So I don't think that it's so much that he's a fan as he has a fanbase to cater to.

He writes for the Washington Post. I don't know how deep his fanship of the skins is but they proly #2 after his home town Bears. (or like RobAllen said he was catering to his fanbase)

I always liked Wilbon but now i think he's an ass who took his fanship on the air when he should have kept his mouth shut.

Because he's black? Go ahead and say it if that's what you mean.

I actually came on here to post the obligatory "Michael Wilbon flippity-floppity" thread.

Don't take anything anyone says seriously during this season. Period.

Wilbon was a KC Radio personality when I first heard of him in 2002. I don't know anything about any associations he has with Chicago Bears per se. I know he often mentioned the small time Mid-West area college that he played football at. can't remember the name now - maybe it was in Illinois. So he might have been a Bears fan growing up. But he was totally Chiefs all the time on his KC radio show.
I used to catch him whenever I was in the car on weekends and he was always pretty enjoyable.

He was a pretty knowledgeable guy from technical aspects and didnt tend to be a blowhard so much back then. I think you may find some of that is a put on just to build up his national exposure. (you know in the ESPN age unless you are "BURNING" [and a jerk] then you dont get your own TV show)

I dont think race has anything to do with him getting a shot at anything. He is actually good IMO (written and speaking). Just cause you dont like his opinions doesnt mean he stinks at what he does.

I certainly dont think he comes at it maliciously like certain boston area media types. I think he maybe doesnt know details of the North East area teams as we was more mid-west and now NFC type guy.

Gumby, i think you are talking about Jason Whitlock. Wilbon is a Bears fan and Tony Korhieser works for the Washington Post and is a Skins fan

To the best of my knowledge, Wilbon has never worked in Kansas City. I think you confused him with Jason Whitlock.

You can't be more mistaken. Michael Wilbon has been a sports writer for the Washington Post and based in D.C. for many years. He happens to be "best buds" with Tony Kornheiser, who brought Wilbon to ESPN radio and then got him a regular gig on ESPN's PTI.

Wilbon is a Chicago native and used to use any excuse to work Michael Jordan into any and all basketball-related articles regardless of whether the subject had the remotest relationship to anything about the Bulls. He idolizes Jordan and attempts to come off as an expert on any sport about which he has the rocks to write. He also idolizes the '85 Bears (big surprise) and has a propensity to write expert articles about football dynasties given that his '85 Bears qualify him to be a football dynasty expert.

He recently wrote an article just before the 2007 NBA draft proposing that the reason Kevin Garnett and other free agents wouldn't sign with Boston was because the city has a racist culture dating back to and before forced busing in the 1970s. (So, how did that turn out, Wilbon?) Given that this story was as accurate as many of his previous sports theories and predictions, it's amazing that this wanker still gets paid to spout his irresponsible garbage and even more amazing that he's now on TV. But in today's sports media where accuracy and responsibility matter much less than being loud and opinionated, Wilbon thrives despite his misinformed rantings and ravings in print or video. What a world, what a world . . . .
