Default BB explains for the nth time

why he went for it on 4th down

http://www.boston.com/sports/footbal.../reiss_pieces/

maybe we should sent this to PFT

Quote:
"Those situations, that point in the game I think I really don't like kicking field goals," said Belichick. "I feel like that's just adding points, so I'd rather go for it on fourth down and give them an opportunity to stop us. Our offense moved the ball well, so give them an opportunity to keep playing."

Kicking a field goal is running up the score.

Going for it on 4th down, a risky play with less than 50% chance of success, gives your opponent the chance to preserve their honor and save some face.

Bills fans should focus less on blaming us and wondering why they couldn't stop Kyle Freaking Eckel from getting into the endzone against their first team defense?

i dont think the bills are that concerned as the media which keeps asking the same question week after week. i just hope BB loses it in one of the press conf and gives a tirade answer like jim mora -that would be priceless-

I've been listening to ESPN all day. Cowherd, Stephen A. Smith, even Schelerth last night....they all have more of a "get over it" attitude on this run up the score thing. The only one who was arguing was Smith's co-host and his arguments were just terrible. Weak as hell.

I just haven't heard the outrage this time. I see Florio, a know-nothing, is upset. I'm sure some Bills fans are annoyed. But I think the Bills D flat out gave up in the second half. I think the same thing happened with the Redskins as well.

maybe there should be a new rule that the Patriots have to punt if they're ahead by more than four scores and inside the opponent's thirty yard line anytime in the second half? or maybe they should just hand the ball over to the other team and say something like "It's your turn now, we're tired of scoring."

Everyone in the media keeps forgetting that Belichick PUNTED on 4th and inches on like the 30 yard line.

Is it just me or is there a hint of sarcasm in there. Or am I reading into it too much..

And this was something he might not have done were it not Jauron, whom he respects, on the other sideline. In any case, I don't care - anyone who thinks the Pats "ran it up" last night is a fool. They're supposed to stop trying at HALFTIME???

I think that more people will get it once we go for it on 4th down and someone finally stops us. They'll get the ball back, their defense will have made a stop, and all will be good. Of course we'll probably just get a safety or something on the next snap...but it will be good for a moment.

He has become a very annoying Mrs. Grundy about it. Maybe he should lobby for a mercy rule.
