Default Breer's points on the game

not sure reading his pts if he is national/pats reporter or jets reporter

Quote:
1) Got some response on Revis story, re: Safety help. Fact is, 0 blitzes (man-to-man, everyone else coming) aren't common. And most ...
2) Kyle Wilson w/help vs. Wes Welker should be interesting. Thought Wilson was competitive last week, but made a few mental errors.3) Shonn Greene is the X-factor in the game. He showed, late last year, the ability to take over. His success would have a massive impact... limiting Patriot offensive possession, giving the Jets D a blow, and keeping the game out of Mark Sanchez's hands.
4) Rookie TEs could exploit a Jets defense as Todd Heap did. What kind of difference Pool makes will be key. And speaking of Gronkowski ...
5) The job the TEs do in protection, along w/backs like Faulk, vs. Jets rush will be real big. Jets D designed to get free runs at QB. ...... And the Patriots have had some moving pieces up front, so communication in protection will be interesting.
6) Special teams could be a factor, if it's close. Remember, both teams had big returns last week -- 1 for Tate (NE), 1 for Leonhard (NYJ)
7) No clue who to pick. Seriously. Part of me wonders if Jets can reel things in. Another part of me expects their D to take over this week.
8) One thing to remember: Jets circled wagons last year when it seemed like season was circling the drain. We'll see if they can do it again

Bert reportedly spent the week in NJ watching the Jesters comedy skits. While I understand his and other's trepidations about the Jesters waking up and playing football, the truth is they spent the offseason reading their press clippings and coasting, that on switch isn't getting thrown with one week's prep work.

NE played a disciplined game against another team which read too many press clippings, it wasn't close. This week, BB's team is going to unveil some new wrinkles Rexy's Hamburglers won't know are coming, I don't expect it to be close. It's telling when a team plays with less discipline then a Baltimore team.

It cracks me up how revered the Jets defense is with these mediots.
They're a very good defense. A great defense?? I don't think is.
Historic i.e. the '70's Steelers or the '85 Bears?? Please!
Yet that is how many of these mediots talk about them. It's ridiculous.
That's why they're mediots.

Bert's plan to go national appears to be coinciding with NFLN's plan to go regional (like ESPN with it's conference coverage). The league will spoon feed him stuff Tim Graham can't get his hands on, the rest will be based on access. He will garner access in NY and Miami based on his affinity for their staff and talent. And much like Graham he will be a fish out of water here although he will avail himself of what I call the Felger access method which is regurgitating whatever his posse here is gathering. That method becomes a necessary one to adopt when you are soooooo busy getting ahead you don't have time to actually develop insider access or sources and most of them have come to the conclusion you can't be trusted to be discreet because you're in it for the breaking news or pot stirring effect on your own upward mobility. Michael Holley had unfettered access to Gillette for two years and nobody here had a clue what was up...LOL Had he instead been running his mouth regularly about what he saw or heard that access would have been revoked. Instead for him it resulted in genuine insider status in part because of the lasting relationships he forged with people who trusted him - including our former budding mangenius DC. If you look closely you will find that historically the guys who develop and maintain the most access are by and large balanced and discreet in their reporting. And everyone else is chasing their tails and reactionary.

Breer will find he has to stand in line in 4 locations now because there are guys in place who have earned insider access with either their loyalty or their discretion. As I said he will be spoon fed information because he's working for the Network, but in time his analysis of that information will begin to determine whether he remains there any longer than he has elsewhere...

I went with Pats 31. Jets 20. I think it may be a lot like last week, where we run up the score early then let then coast in in garbage time.

It's the latter...and it's been that way for a while now.
