Since BB knows he will most likely face the Colts in the playoffs his tactical
decisions for the Colts may have been limited by his strategy involving the
playoffs.
Why show the Colts your most effective offense in November when you
need to have that game for January? I would not be surprised if BB
held back a lot of the offense with the Playoffs in mind.
For example, they could have protected Brady better. In fact in the 4thQ
when they began to need that protection they got it. It was almost as if
the PATs were holding back until they really needed to get the job done.
I wonder if the defense was also holding stuff back.

Brilliant! (Imagine the brothers in that commercial)
Seriously though, I think BB may have several possible game plans for any given oponent and picks the plan he thinks will work the best. Sometimes the choice is obvious and other times it may be difficult to figure out which one will work best. In this case, it is hard for me to believe he would have risked losing the game by choosing the plan that wasn't the best... but maybe.
I think it is more likely that he did not choose wisely. I don't think that 5 db defense with no A.Thomas was the best defense. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the schemes hurt us this time. Probably more a bad choice than a calculated way to gain an edge in the AFCCG, although anything is possible I suppose.
