Default Artificial crowd noise at Indy? (MERGED)

From Florio's Live Blog:

A reader points out something we noticed -- right before the pick, the crowd noise sounded funny. It almost sounded like there was a skip in the artificial crowd noise.

I heard it too, the croud noise started studdering like a broken record. I have no comment.

I assume that was a CBS issue. It got too quiet.

Is this reader at the game (I know, dumb question), or watching on TV? It could be just an audio correction... you watch almost any game, and periodically there is a split second pause as a correction is made to match the audio to video. I'll leave it to someone who understands this to explain, as something to do with different timing standards between A and V. But you can't go by anything you hear over TV... it could just as likely be bad TV than bad live sound.

Maybe but the announcers and some other noises didn't studder. Just the crowd. And actually after it did that, the crowd noise hasnt been as loud.

I have this mental image of that Milli Vanilli concert from about 20 years ago...

<Crowd Noise>... skip... <repeat>... skip... <repeat>... skip... <repeat>...

I heard it as well. It sounded like the crowd was on some milli-vanilli type stuff. I believe I heard a sound independent of the crowd noise skipping.

I need to clarify. I heard the crowd noise skipping, I also heard a noise not the crowd noise not skipping. Lol that still doesn't sound right. I don't think it was CBS.
