Journalists all think they have such a keen insight into the human condition that it's quite fine of them to cast people into narrow, well-defined roles.

And that role bursts when "the cheater" is found out to do charity work, and the "saint" is found out to be pumping up the sound in the dome.

Oh, no, wait, it doesn't burst unless the writer wants it to burst. As long as they play favorites, there is no bursting unless the whole damn gives out. Even Nixon had rabid supporters after he was shamed into quitting.
