Default Magic in the Air?

We are not even halfway through the 2007 season and there is little gained from various scenario's on the Patriots season. But as I watched the Red Sox edge closer to their second World Series, I couldn't help considering one big "what if".

Let me preface what I'm going to say by asking you all to be honest with yourselves and admit you've felt a certain wonder over what has been happening in the New England sports universe. Thursday night, Boston College pulled a "Flutie" out in the waning seconds of their game against #8 Virginia Tech. I've even admitted to myself I'm going to watch the Celtics this year and New England is bracing to explode after the Sox finish off the Rockies.

The Patriots are loaded to the gills with both talent and motivation as we try NOT to think about the game against the Colts next week...c'mon people! Admit it! There seems to be magic in the crisp fall air of New England this year.

I refuse to go through all the various champi.....I can't even say it! I just know I'll jinx something or other and I can't take that kind of risk because I can almost hear you all silently thinking "Don't you dare say it! It's one game at a time man...!"

And this year, it's "one sport at a time" too! I'm freakn' giddy here but I'll supress it with all my strength and just watch tomorrow's Patriots game...oh, yeah, and the Sox too!

One final thought. If 2 or 3 or 4 of these scenarios come to fruition, will that automatically make New England fans more arrogant & rude? Or, is our rudeness just a function of our reasons to celebrate? Non-New Englanders, forgive us our joy. If you were us, you'd feel the same way!

Oh well...we needn't fuss over things that may never happen.

At the risk of upsetting the BC homers on this board, I will say it anyway. BC is the most OVERRATED team in the nation. Bar none. They have beaten nobody except a decent Virginia Tech team, who also has beaten nobody and was smacked down 48-7 at LSU.

Thats so true man. VT has the worse QB ever in Glennon who I think will do great in a flag football league but not in 1A football. My point is that if VT could actually mount a decent drive sometime during that game BC would have never came back.

I hear ya. Not for nothing, but the ACC has to be the worst BCS conference in the nation this season. Honestly, is there a team in the ACC outside of maybe BC that could finish in the top 5 in the SEC? I don't think so. BC is more like a solid Top 15 team, Va Tech is a borderline Top 25 team, and the rest of the league is garbage. I find it funny when BC homers like John Meterperel on WEEI get offended when guys like Kirk Herbstreit say that BC should be ranked #5 and not #2. When neutral observers look at BC they see a team that has beaten NOBODY except for a miraculous comeback win on the road against a Va Tech team that LSU hammered.

Oops...I did forget them didn't I? Well, I think they have more to prove to us since they didn't go out and get a bunch of stars.

But I have been pleasantly surprised so far...we can only hope!

The torrential rainy conditions worked perfectly in VT's favor. BC actually should have stuck with their running game a lot more.

Also, BC wone that game 14-3 and not 14-10!!! That was NOT a TD scored by VT and I couldn't believe it was not overturned!

Their's no way to validate a statement like you made regarding the quality of the ACC. I think their better than both the Big East and some of those Mountain conferences out in the mid west.

I always get a kick out of the fact the perenial powers are always ranked in the top 20 when the season begins. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Penn State, Michigan and the rest. Please try to explain why these teams always end up in the top 10.

Uconn, Florida Southern, Louisville...? c'mon, pah-leezzzzz!

It's a huge "IF"...but if BC wins out, they deserve to play for the championship beyond any doubt.

Like I said...if they win out their remaining games, they deserve to play for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP...Bar none

We'll see. They are certainly better than any team from the Big East...yup, even WV by a long shot.
