Default New Gillette Parkings: Feedbacks from the PS experience?

Since the Stadium opened in 2002, I must admit that the P2 location has already been a favorite of mine for many reasons: proximity to the ProShop, close to the Razor's Edge TG, easy to leave when I need to somewhat try to beat the traffic heading back to Montreal, etc. I'm always heading to the lots at around 9:00-9:15 for 1PM games.

I hear that P2 has been renamed LOT 3 and that half of the parking spaces have disappeared since the future Patriots Place site is located exactly there. However, I know there are STILL some places left on P2 (Lot 3) which I believe, might run out of spots quite fast once the gates are opened...(how long? 5 minutes (the 100 cars in the line-up at 8:30AM)? 30 minutes? 60 minutes?).

I also know about that some people who tried to park on P2 arriving from the North had to do a U-Turn on Route 1 and waste an hour in the process before the Titans game.

Any advices to secure a spot on P2 (Lot 3) or elsewhere if you have a better spot would be much welcomed at this point. Thanks!

it is true that P2/lot3 has less space but it is still a big lot, and coming from the north is still the best place to park if you are going to park on stadium grounds IMO. i imagine that with less spots, it will certainly fill up earlier, but we usually get there within an hour of the gate opening anyway for tailgaiting.

the first preseason game, my dad got this idiotic email from the pats that included the following:

Quote:
If you're coming from the North:
Save yourself time by staying to the right and parking in P10. You'll have more time to tailgate with easier ingress and egress. You will have to cross Route 1 at the marked pedestrian crossings, but P10 is still your best bet.
i followed what it said and stayed to the right to get to P10, noticing at the time that P2was 3/4ths empty but it was too late to get over to the left to get to it.

once we got in P10 we were fine, we tailgated and it was easy to walk to the stadium. i had assumed that since the pats sent out this mass email that said that P10 was the "best bet" for cars coming from the north, they would have some sort of traffic plan worked out with state police that would include a way to let us make the left across route 1 to get back to travelling north to 95. NOT TRUE! not only was there no plan like that, the state troopers that were there told us that the ONLY option would be to make a right out of p10 and then go south on route 1 until 495 and use 495 to get to 95.

the second preseason game i got into p2 with no problems.

i think for the regular season it will be different and there will be a competition issue getting into p2, but i don't mind leaving early enough to beat the crowd.

Here is another question from a Canadian fan heading to a game in Oct. I am going to be staying in the Providence vicinity. Which would be the best parking lot for me to choose coming from the south and what does it cost to park at a game? Any information greatly appreciated.

i don't have any experience coming from the south so i don't want to mislead you, but you can expect to pay $40 for parking at official stadium lots.

I generally come from the north but when I've come from the south I've parked at a satelite lot directly across from the Outlaw b-que. It's a tree lined lot on your left as you're comming up Rt. 1. Be carefull however, Rt. 1 splits into 3 north lanes before the lot. You'll see the split as you're approaching the Dunkin Donuts on your right. This lot (when last I was there) offered ample taigate space and easy access back on RT1 South.

I normally park in a motel parking lot on the west side of rt 1. I am blanking on the name now, but it's about a mile from the stadium and has ample room for whatever.

Wherever you park, do so on the west side of rt 1 (on the left as you're driving north). You do not want to have to cross rt 1 when you're leaving the lot to head back south.

Is that on the same side as the stadium? How early should I get there for a 1:00 pm game?

To be honest, you're best off taking the special Providence-Foxboro commuter rail that the MBTA runs on home game days from both north (South Station-Back Bay-Norwood-Dedham-Foxboro) and south (Providence-Foxboro, never taken it so I don't know if there's any stops along the way). It's $10 for a ticket (compared to $40-50 at the stadium for parking) and you don't have to worry about getting in or out. Just can't tailgate, though, since you'll get there 30 minutes before the game, unless you know someone who has a setup (and then you have to get to the train before it leaves after the game, which isn't hard but you do have to head straight there more or less).

Yeah, I have looked into the train idea but I don't want to have to rush after the game to catch it. I still want to kind of soak up the atmosphere, it's not like I get down there often - actually first trip ever and I don't know when the next time I'll be back.
