Default Defensive backs

Andrews looks like he can actually play defensive back.

Agree. And - not that this excuses it - Richardson clearly slipped on a field that EVERYONE on both teams seemed to be slipping on ALL NIGHT.

I am rewatching the game and saw that Richardson looked good defending Smith while with the 1st team defense, broke up the play and smacked him hard. He's got a chance to make this team. Playing with the 1st team defense for any number of plays speaks well of what the pats think of him.

Richardson was solid all night with the exception of one play. On top of that, he was playing with the first team defense. Very impressive, as it looks like this guy is a keeper.

Regarding the rest of the DBs, Rodney was Rodney. Wilson and Sanders were solid. Gay played very well and drew coverage on Smith most of the night. Hobbs was quietly efficient and mistake free. James appeared to be tentative on a few plays.

I liked Meriweather's efforts later in the game. He's definitely a hitter and was usually around the ball. Andrews was a pleasant surprise.

All in all a good game for the DBs. It really helps when the DL is doing its job and enabling the LBs to move the QB around a bit. This was truly a team game for the D, and bodes well as the team prepares for the regular season.

Yup, Richardson slipped on that play as he was trying to go for the ball. Maroney and Sanders also slipped at different parts of the game. I thought maybe they should have put on longer cleats during half time...

Sure could have used the dude at the end of last years Colts game. I wonder if this year Willie will make the big jump in production.
