Ordinary hit != ordinary hit when gassed in ~100 degree weather
If he looked like #%@#%(& in the 4th quarter on the sidelines, that might give me cause for concern, though.
Thats more likely to happen in very cold weather. Now that I said that I quess I better say why. On very cold days the blood leaves the extrematies and pooles in the organs such as the liver to keep the core of the body warm, you may have noticed in the winter your fingers for ex. arn't as plyable, there stiffer when exposed to the cold. Its easier to pull a muscle because of the lack of blood warming the tissue,(muscles, tendons, and ligaments) along with decreased oxygenation. Conversly in the heat, the blood moves to the extremities to cool the core. Through sweating and evaporation the blood is cooled through heat exchange(see 2nd law of thermodynamics). So its unlikely that being hit in warm weather would be more condusive to causeing more musculo/skeletal injuries. Of course this is off the top of my head so I may have missed a few things IMO
Sometimes I can get a little carried away.Especialy at 3am and nothing else to do.

Jeez Pats1, I made my observations in the other thread I'll try to edit so they make sense.
--------------------------------
Some might disagree, but I bet Rodgers, Mays and Lua might need to keep the tape of this game to show their grandkids.
Rodgers made lots of plays, but they made some big runs outside him. Cardinal sin, got to stay in your lane on this team.
Lua hits hard, but hits with no wrap up and spinning a QB around instead of burying him don't make it for an ILB.
Mays just looks lost.
I predict (jumping to conclusions, obviously) 1 of three makes it at all, either PS or STs. Hopefully their play in future exhibitions changes my mind.
Richardson made 2 good plays in a row, Mills looks agile.
Santonio Thomas, who won't make nothing, continues to look better than the young LBs (who have a real shot), IMO. Oh well.
What's a Quinton Smith and why can't we have one?
I
RayClay, I hear ya regarding Rogers not sealing outside, but being that Tully Banta Cain didn't seal last year (I noticed it alot), and this kid is playing in his first game..... After the game, he seemed to very much know of his mistake. Tully never fixed it. I'm not worried about that.
Now Mays and Lua should probably keep a copy of the game tape, but I think it's too early to know if they'll get cut for sure.
Now as for my post game notes:
Most touched on them - Richardson looks fluid. Merriweather had his ups and downs, but just looks like a player to me. Wright makes plays every time he's out there. Gaffney took his great practices to the game. It's hard to believe he will not make the team. On the negative side, TB moved the ball against who was there as the Pats number 1 defense.
One player that I liked was Quinton Smith. He had a couple of nice runs. And, at one point, they announced that it was Smith with the run back, not Williams. Yes, it was a mistake on the announcer's part.
Its going to be interesting to see how Smith continues to work out.
Me too, Dabruinz. I've always loved great running backs and I perk up when I see someone that's got it. I got that vibe from him.
Of course more observation might reveal flaws, but he looks like he's got the quicks and elusiveness and goes forward.
We don't really have another pure runner beside Maroney.

I actually bumped this thread from page 2 or 3 to follow up on that post. Rogers mentioned that one play as a big mistake and impressed me as someone who "gets it" as far as responsibilities and improving.
I haven't seen evidence from Box or others that he was "cheating" otherwise and his agility and production were outstanding. Certainly hope he's for real.
My post is on the page before this, so I won't repeat it.

I'm not sure where the "cheating" reference applies, are you referring to another thread? I did comment in T-Shirt's thread that Rogers had spared me the trouble of answering your question, nice to see you got your answer.

Cheating is a poor term. Going for the play while leaving his assignment. I've read enough from different posters and Rogers himself to satisfy me the guy is working hard and realizes he made some mistakes.
He certainly looked good out there and the fact that he mentions the exact play I saw and knows he screwed up makes me feel better.
I can't see much wrong with the rest of his play and assume since he specifically mentioned that play that it was an exception.
Another poster had a nice breakdown, in the Rogers thread I think and mentioned he needs work in coverage which is expected of a DE, I'm sure.
I don't break down film and rarely see individual players who don't have the ball. The fact that I was staring at him when he made an admitted boo boo, made it stick out fo rme at the time.
By the way OT: Anybody know where I can print a roster that goes numbers first.
Apparently the Patriots don't have their players trained to tackle in alphabetical order, so it's distracting to look up all the new players while the actions going on.

Go to the "roster" on the www.patriots.com page. you can change the sort oder to numerical by selecting that column header and alternatively get ascendinfg and descending sorts. et cetera...
