i think so, since we have chad jackson waiting in the wings. it's still a win-win, as stallworth will be playing for his next contract with somebody.

I think Stallworth decides if he is only here for a year.

Pretty much, I seriously doubt he fixes that contract.

All the acquisition of Moss all but guarantees is he will be here for this season provided his motivation to play here translates into 110% practice and game time effort and performance.

The only WR this team is remotely wedded to contractually beyond this season is Welker. The rest of them are going to have to play for their 2008 contract be it here or somewhere else. If they all step up to the challenge (and who knows, some may balk at this recent development) some of them may yet be flipped for a player or a 2008 draft pick.

I don't think the contract will have to be "fixed" if the Pats want to keep him. He was signed to a fairly reasonable contract for a receiver with his talents and potential. If Moss's contract is reasonable I don't think Stallworth would be let go for financial reasons. And if he produces to meet expectations there is no reason why the wouldn't want to keep him. Production would meet value and it would be all good. I think it is way too early to make an assertion either way, but think that he and Moss, and Jackson, could all be here in '08, if the production meets value.

Sure, if Jackson is as good as Stallworth by the end of the season, then we'll cut loose Stallworth.

It depends how Moss' contract was re structured. Probably really cap friendly this year but balloons to some insane number next year. If anything, Moss might only be here for a year. The Pats will 'fix' him and then trade him for a 2nd round pick. Don't forget Moss is 30 and Stallworth is 28. If both pan out to meet expectations, I would keep the younger guy, IMO.

What most of us seem to not understanding is that bb has signed up a new receiver corps: Moss, Stallworth, Welker and Washington. Jackson will get another year or two to develop. Good luck to the rest. The contracts will be worked out. bb is now focused on getting a short distance running back, or a running back who will eventually take some of Faulk's reps. The wide receiver problem is no more. It makes absolutely no sense to step back now, and consider getting rid of Stallworth. His contract is fine.
