Default WR still a need

After reading about Stallworth's deal, it becomes clear to me that he was looking for a one year deal basically. He and Rosenhaus obviously think he can put up some good stats wherever, and then the next year get a big deal somewhere.

He chose Brady and the Pats to be that one year stop, instead of Cleo Lemon, Alex Smith, or Vince Young... (obviously).

Don't count out WR in Round 1 yet, as I don't think we'll have Stallworth for long.

yeah we would draft a WR and demote everyone again.

Stallworth - #1..we know
Caldwell - likely #2
Gaffney/Jackson/Welker - #3 battle
then whoever drops to 4th

We are going to have so many weapons next season, Gaffney really impressed me in the playoffs with the catches he was making, I think he can be a big part of the offense, plus don't forget we will have Watson and Thomas catching passes as well. I don't think WR is an immediate need, there are holes on defense to fill first.

2 exceptions I can think of:

Unless he has a mediocre year, then he'd be forced to either accept the Pats restructuring or get another fairly cheap situation on the FA market. But then of course... why get him again if he was mediocre?

Or with the first year being only 3 million... he could have a great year, and then move the money around and make the rest of the deal 5 years and 30 million, which is getting way up there in dollars and still likely make him happy.

Yep, we have other needs clearly, but don't discount BB's love of value. If Bowe or Jarrett fall, we might jump.

I still think we should either, a) trade both picks up and get a proven player like Landry or b) trade down with one of the picks.

if Bowe or Jarrett fell? Bowe, Meachem should both be avaible for us by 24..its clear they probably knew that and why would we spend a #2 on a WR and then sign the best avaible in FA?

i doubt we take a safety till round 5-6 :\

We signed Stallworth to a boatload of incentives which rely on the kind of season he will have. If he has a good season and doesn't miss too many games with injuries, he should be signed at least through next year.
