Stallworth, Welker, and Jackson still need to prove they can learn the offense. Until they produce they are questions marks. I'm sure they will get acclimated but it will be a question if they will be able to step right in or it will take 10 games.

I have a lot of confidence Welker will learn it. First, because he did well last year on the QB of the week plan, second because he's determined with a capital D. He has a history of proving himself against the odds.

Stallworth is determined with a capital $, and that works almost as well.

WR is no longer a need, end of story. Time to move on.

There is a possibility of a WR being drafted but most likely in the late rounds if at all. The offense is pretty much set, time to get younger and faster on D.

It all depends on what Jackson does this year. I would still not rule out drafting a WR, but they'd need to find a place on special teams I think as barring injury, we're set with the following (and there's no need to pigeon-hole them into any "order"

Welker
Gaffney
Stallworth
Caldwell
Jackson
Special Team/WR competition

Normally I'd be leaning towards ruling out a draft pick but again, WRs take time to develop - and this year is a deep WR draft. So wherever and whenever BB & SP feel there is value on the draft board they might take a player, regardless of position

And given the WR talent in the draft there's a likelihood that might happen

I think we are set at WR for starters. The Pats don't NEED to draft a young wideout. They might still do so if a great value falls into their laps but thats about the only occassion where I'd think that would happen. I really like the wideouts in this year's draft though. Guys like Meachem, Gonzales, and Davis could end up studs out of this year's draft and at least one of em will be available in the late 1st round to early 2nd round area. If the Pats want a young wideout maybe they'll trade down out of the 1st round otherwise they will stay where they are and get younger on defense is my guess right now.

I think the Pats are pissed about how their high draft pick WRs have turned out. Branch slapped them in the face, Bethal Johnson enough said, CJ has not lived up to expectations.

Chances are this draft the Pats will try to pick up someone in the later rounds and hope he turns out to be the next David Givens/Troy Brown.

It could very well be a major need next year if Stallworth gets injured (likely) and Gaffney and Caldwell turn back to their old form in their respective backup roles.
