Yup the same team who traded away picks to jump back up to first round to get a DT and stayed at 8th to take a guy that everyone admits would have been their had they traded down. He worked out, but it was dumb at the time and its still dumb now.

The same team that is trying to trade away their running back, let Fletcher and Clements walk and now is trying to get rid of Spikes. Yes, the same team that just invested a boat load of money into a solid guard, a ****ty RT and a backup guard.

Sorry if I don't seem that impressed.

Just figured I'd comment on some of this as a Bills fan. I think there's a strange situation where people outside of Buffalo have a greater opinion of McGahee than the team/fans do. I'm not sure why - I'm thinking it's just from the extensive media coverage he gets.

As a fan that has watched him every play, here's why I think the Bills need to trade McGahee:

1) He's not a great back. Last year he failed to gain even 1,000 yards. He's averaging just 3.9ypc over his career. Yes, he was playing on a team with a weak O-line and against defenses prepared to stack the run - but there have been many opportunities for him to shine as a game changing back. There are few instances when he's succeeded...and those few instances were always splahed all over sportscenter. He's sort of like a movie that looks great in the trailers, but when you go see the movie - you realize those scenes in the trailers were the only good parts.

2) He cannot catch a football. He cannot block a pass rush.

3) He's going to demand a huge contract next year. He's not going to be interested in playing in small market Buffalo.

4) His comments suggesting the Bills should move to Toronto just doesn't sit well with Bills fans.

5) He's not a Marv Levy guy. He's from the Tom Donahoe regime. He's getting into more and more off the field trouble. It's not the type of player Marv is looking to keep around.

All this being said, I think if you keep McGahee on the roster this year, there's almost no chance he sticks around next year anyway. If the Bills can get a second rounder for him (which seems absurd but apparently the Ravens are going to give it + some) this year, it's a good move for the team.

I don't think anyone believes Corey Dillon is an answer. I don't think Chris Brown is the answer. My assumption is if the Bills trade McGahee, they'll draft a RB early and sign Dillion/Brown as a fill in for this year (possibly next?).

Anyhow, just thought I'd comment on why more Bills fans than not would welcome a McGahee trade.

Thanks for the insightfull post. I was impressed with how well your defense played last year and you guys seemed to be heading in the right direction. This offseason just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. The Dockery signing will help the line but Walker is not that good, IMO. I don't get why they would want to move Spikes, I realize he was injured for most of the past two seasons but he is a team leader and you guys just lost Fletcher. It doesn't seem like its a good plan to let your two best LB's and two of your team leaders leave in the same off season.

But again thanks for decent post and not being a troll.

I am a buffalo bills fan. I am not here to compare penis sizes. Just to let some input on our team and where we are heading because from replies to this post it seems like most of you pat's fans do not know much about the bills. I am sure there have been many posts about why buffalo has gone threw so many QB's in so many years. Well simply put some just sucked and some just had a really really bad O-Line. So to anyone that has posted that we are spending too much money and paying too much attention on the O-line you are crazy. That has been the biggest problem for our team for the past 7 years. As for the bills getting rid of TKO the first play of the season last year was his highlight and thats about it. Do not get me wrong i love the guy and think he is still a great player. The problem is our D has changed and he does not fit out new sceam very well. With that said we have not traded him and I would not jump the gun, he still may be a bill next year.

No if dillon, rhodes, or jones, are signed they are not expected to be a "feature back" they would replace A-train. We will draft a RB in the draft. I think we will take Lynch but not sure, with our #1 and our two #2 picks (if we trade WM) i am sure will be a LB, CB, and RB with be draft and possibly a DT though.

The bills offense will be a lot better then the offense we produced in the second half of last season. It has been a long time before I could say that the bills will have a good offense. Losman is really turning into a great player and with a better O-line I think he will shine. As for our D this year we will use the draft to fill some holes but it will be a week spot.

As for the marv is too old to be the bills GM comments, Whitner, Simpson, Williams, Pennington, Ellsion were all a huge part for our success at the end of last season. McCargo, and Youboty never really got a chance and we will see what they can do this year but a CB and DT are important picks for us this year in the draft. If marv's picks are as good this year as they were last year during our season then the bills will be a descent team.

Final thoughts, I did not come on this board to say the Bills will be the 2008 SB winners, not even to say we will win the division, or even to say the bills will kick the Pat's ass. I personally think that the other 14 games are more important. I just wanted to show you guys why the the Bills have made the moves they have and why they want to trade WM. WM did not even know what the plays that were being called were. He missed that in the off-season He is a above average back nothing more. The bills are upgrading their offense and while WM was a good RB for the bills a few years ago, the the offense has grown and WM is not what the bills need right now. Plus the fact that he is a FA next year doe not help.
