This is just the beginning of a new run. We have a good young RB, O-line, D-line, a QB in his prime and we are re-loading at the "weaker" positions through free agency and likely the draft.

This team is positioning itself for at least 5 MORE years of contending for a Super Bowl. BB and Pioli have a plan and it is by no means the beginning of the end.

In the draft look for a young ILB to learn from Bruschi and Vrabel. A David Harris or more likely, Buster Davis, will be brought in and groomed to take over.

Also look for at least 2 new members in the secondary. Add 2 picks in the secondary, as well as the return of Wilson, Gay and Harrison, and this unit goes from a weakness to a strength.

In addition, I expect a mid round back to be drafted, like a Darius Walker from ND. If you look at Morris' deal, if reported correctly, the Pats could easily cut him next year with minimal cap hit.

This team seems to have it's "eye of the tiger" back, which I love to see. It likely bugged them as much much as it did me to see the "birthday party" novelty act win a super bowl.

So what the OP is saying is that if BB/Pioli intended to stick around, they would intentionally sit on a big pile of available money for NO reason other than frugality for frugality's sake?

This thread is dumb.

[QUOTE=solman;365068]BB understands that situations like what we have in New England don't last forever.

Last year we were a single player away from a fourth superbowl. You either use opportunity or lose it. Last year we lost it

AM I the only one who thinks that we were NOT a single player away from the SB but two bad ref calls (which they acknowledged) from the SB.....god dont get me started on that game again.....it was only yesterday since Ive been able to watch nfl live again

One first down and they still would've won, though. You can fault both sides of the ball. All either was really missing was one additional playmaker, and we added those already in A.D. and Welker. Anything now is just gravy.

If so Ill toast the dynasty with any one of youz guyz (gotta put the jersey touch on this thread)
A more likely scenario might be that it all implodes, the Pats underachieve, perhaps Coughlin underachieves, and then perhaps Belichick might decide to go back to the Giants or elsewhere.

I mean if you spend all this money, give it your best shot and still don't get it done, it might be time to end it.

Yeah, pretty much, though the calls didn't help. Or the two drops. The real problem was we were playing guys like Woods and Izzo at ILB in the second half. We plain ran out of bullets. Flu and injuries took their toll. This offeseason is about reloading. But damn, way too much attention to the O, except for the best FA of the year in Thomas.
