Default Seahawks tender Hackett at second-round level

Restricted free agent WR D.J. Hackett received a second-round ($1.35 million) tender from the Seahawks, according to Scout.com.

After losing Steve Hutchinson because of the 'transition' tag, we're surprised the Seahawks didn't ensure keeping Hackett with the first-round tender. Teams like the Vikings, Patriots, and 49ers are believed to be interested in Hackett and may consider giving up the pick.

Yeah right we will see if the Pats are interested in him.

The addition of that second round tender seems like it will be really good for teams around the league. If the seahawks had tendered him a 1st then I don't think anyone would be interested but as a two I think some team may have interest.

I doubt the pats have intrest.

But the seahawks could end up picking up an extra 2 from a position of strenght. And they could use the 2 as they gave us their 1

Talk about a bargain, I think Hackett has some solid potential but was buried behind the Burleson experiment, Warrick, Engram and Jackson. When he was on the field, he proved to be worth a second round pick and I think this is a great move by the Seahawks. I just think that a team like the Pats with their low round second could make a deal for him. Pioli has to measure Hackett with Moulds, Kelly Washington, etc to see which he feels would be best. I don't envy that job right now...

This goes for the Wes Welker thread as well - I'm not sure the Pats have much interest in giving up a 2nd rounder (on top of the $) for these guys.

Now, even more clearly, they're dumping Darrell Jackson.

When I watched the Seahawks this year he was the one making plays not Branch, Jackson or Burleson.

Does anybody know about his route running and smarts? He has a lot of athletic talent that's for sure.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.

I happen to like Hackett a lot. Were he an unrestricted free agent I would probably be clamoring for the Pats to sign him. Hell, he might even be worth giving up a second rounder to get. I think the Pats just might consider it.

I agree. The games I watched showed hackett playing better than Branch and Burleson.

He was their best WR IMO and he's fairly new to the position so he has room to grow. I'm not big into picks for vets but Hackett's kind of interesting.

Hackett was very good last season everytime I watched the Hawks he was outplaying Branch and making big plays downfield. I would love to pick him up.
