I just think he feels it's time. Usually when a player gets to that point, the only way they come back is in a fresh situation. Look no further than Seau.
Dick Vermeil thought it was time to leave coaching when he retired from the Rams, it wasn't that he wanted more money. The KC job gave him the spark again.
It doesn't mean it was a ploy if he signs with someone else.
