Default Stop the Stallworth Talk?

Dante was on a few different shows today on ESPN. He said multiple times that he will play for the Eagles next year and a deal will be done. He praised the organization highly. This guy isn't going anywhere so you can take him of your wish list (he wasn't on some lists anyway).

That's weird because the talk down here in Philly is that he is gone, testing the free agent waters with no expectation that Philly will come up the high bidder. I get the feeling (no factual basis) that he will go for whoever gives him the biggest contract (even if it's Oak or Det- using loser analysis here not need for receivers) regardless of whether he will sniff a Super Bowl or not
instead of potentially taking a few less doneros for the chance to play in Feb.
If it's all the $$ with a maximum contract, I don't see him in a Pats uniform next year, certainly not with his injury history.....

I dont understand why people think he's the answer to the patriots problems in the receiving corp... I think wes welker would be more of a threat in the pariots scheme than stallworth.

and.. I dont know how in the holy hell people are writing off Chad Jackson already. Forgot who said it but it went something like "if you went by Ty Warrens first season stats, you'd call him a bust too.."

Kid will be fine, some people are expecting the second coming of jerry rice..thats not fair for us as fans and for him as a player. People act like anything less than 1200 yd 100 catch season is a faliure. I'd be content just to see him become somewhat of a threat to stretch the field and give watson/thomas/graham/caldwell/jaffney/dillion and maroney some much needed breathing room to make plays...everything is falling into place..

watch and wait..

I fear the addition of Wes Walker means the end of the Troy Brown Era as a player.

I just want 1 more WR to fill out the roster who is established or on the edge of breaking out

Why add a guy at 10 yards per catch like Walker?

Stallworth is simply a good example of a player who gives us what we need - a legitimate deep threat for 35-50 catches a season. There are others like him that we could trade for or sign.

We've had these guys in the past - we could use them again. David Patten = 18 yards per catch. Tim Dwight and Andre Davis = 17.5 and 21 yards per catch.

Caldwell, Watson and Gaffney? 12 & 13 yards per catch.

That makes for a very big difference when it comes to how the defenses can stack up against us.

I think we should get stallworth.

He would fit in well with all the other Injury-prone patriots.

so what if he gets hurt? most other players on this team do too.

I would like to see him here.

By the way - once you have a guy like Stallworth or others stretching the field - watch how Cadwell, Watson and Gaffney's numbers rise from 12 & 13 yards a catch and come into the 14-16 yards per catch average.

That's bound to happen simply because there won't be a saftey playing 15 yards "deep" pouncing on them immediately after the catch is made.

Reche was an injury prone player and lasted the season - maybe the offseason position specific training the Pats do really works?
