Default Latest Samuel Article by Reiss

Just read the Mike Reiss article on Samuel and I have to say that Asante is a friggin child if he felt "slighted" by being moved to RCB in preseason for one game and by not beinig put on Lee Evans.

Not to mention this garbage about the Patriots "not promoting" Samuel for the Pro-Bowl. Give me a friggin break, Asante. Its clear to me that Asante has his priorities WRONG. I say franchise his arse, tell him to get a trade worked out with another team and ship his arse there.

Heck, see if Jerry Angelo and the Bears would be willing to swap him for Nathan Vasher. Then we won't have to see Asante for 4 years.

A lot of this ground is also well covered today on ProFootballTalk's Rumour Mill which does a number on Samuel's agent Alonzo Shavers, who sounds like a real piece of work.

PFT comes to the conclusion that Shavers is going to use the profile of his number one client to build his own reputation and that could mean a lot of grief flying back and forth in the coming weeks.

Sounds like Deion Branch all over again. Ugh.

Let him go now....no need for more preseason BS like we had with Branch last year. Samuel made some nice plays this year, but the guy gets burnt quite a bit too and my prediction is someone will play him big bucks and he'll be mediocre the rest of his career.

Can't happen like Branch because he's a UFA...and gone!! Branch never got to that point..which is WHY he's a bit of a baby and NOT like Samuel..10 times worse...at least Samuel PLAYED...Branch LAYED down and didn't want to

Like getting a #1 pick you mean. It won't be BS when we pick at #24.

If he's not re-signed, Franchising him HAS TO be a no brainer. I still think we should have Franchised Givens - I think we could have gotten at least a #3 last year vs. a likely #5 this year. Players are commodities, we can't just let them go. John Abraham got the Jets a #1 pick - we should get that value for Samuel or AT LEAST a #2.

OK, fine to try to get something for him, but he's no Ty Law, so let's not forget that.

Maybe not but Law's career high in INT was 10 (that was with the Jets, 9 with NE) and Samuel didn't get beaten too often this year. Talk down upon him all you want, I'm glad he kicked ass it just increases his trade value when we Franchise him - which we'd better do or I'll be pissed.

You make perfect sense, I just hate bigmouths...he had one really good year, let's not crown his ass.

He's not, but nor are Ellis Hobbs, Eugene Wilson or Willie Andrews. Best case scenario for Pats is keeping him at the right price. If that can't be done, franchise his ass and send him to Dan Snyder.
