This guy is young and still has amazing potential.

This guy is a top 5 corner in the league.

This guy is just as important as Richard Seymour.

If we lose this guy we will be very very sorry, he isn't Branch, he's a top tier corner, and we NEED him.

I would love to see us resign him, It's amazing how much he has improved during his career here. However...If he doesn't get resigned we will survive without him...We always survive thats what makes this team GREAT.

You know it almost doesn't matter to me. The title of this thread is exactly what I thought when I saw that.

Now, once I come down from the high of this game it will fully sink in that a lot of what Samuels does is benefit from knowing the system so well. As they pointed out, Samuel recognized/understood the D scheme in that Sanders was there to cover his man, freeing him up to take a chance.

The Patriots seem to do with DBs what the Broncos do with OLs and RBs - find the right guys who fit their system making everyone look good

But that only goes so far - Samuel is having a great year and his instincts are incredible - I'm not sure you can teach that or discount it as a quality of the system

I'd pay him the market rate - which is going to be quite high right now.

Wouldn't that equate the to the average salary of the top 5 cb's in the league, not sure that will be good value.. but then you never know.

To matchup with the Colts you need both your #1 and #2 corners to be strong. And you better have quality depth at nickel and dime back as well. Who remembers Alexander getting burned for a deep TD because we ran out of unfatigued cover personnel?

So sign Samuel, draft and impact DB. And dip your toe into the Briggs and Stallworth sweepstakes as well. That's how we need to rebuild.

I believe that the Packers did something similar before they went to the Superbowl in '96, they drafted bigger corners to deal with the wideout threats of teams like the Rams of that era, etc.
