Default only reason for this win

immaturity vs experience...

felger put it best...give the chargers team to BB , and it wouldve been a blowout..chargers inexperience and dumb mistakes inspite of all the mistakes pats made really made the diff...the troy brown play vs the muffed punt is the only example one needs to see

I think that's right. We were pretty soundly getting beaten in all three phases of the game until the last few minutes and still had a chance to win.

The funny thing is that I've been saying for years and years during games that trying to intercept a ball when your opponent has 4th down is among the dumbest plays in football, unless you have a clear path to the end zone. It should be treated like a hail mary play -- knock the ball to the ground. Never seen it play out bad for the intercepting team, though. Not until a few minutes ago, that is.

You know, screw Mike Felger. Stupid fool, picking the Bolts to blow us out. Guy is only happy if we loose.

I disagree based upon one point. Marty Shcotenloser has all the maturity and experience with 200 wins. He just can't coach a big playoff win.

Guess we watched different games.
1st quarter was a draw.
2nd quarter was slightly in favor of the Chargers
3rd quarter was also a draw.
4th quarter was almost all Pats.

It just seemed bad because of that bad run of SD TD, Patriot INT, SD TD . . . thankfully we got that late TD at the end of the 2nd quarter.

The ONLY reason for this win is because the Patriots did what I said they needed to do and that was to execute better than the Chargers. They did that (barely) and won (barely).

It was far more than experience over immaturity although that was clearly a factor. It was poise ,intelligence, staying calm when everyone around You is crazy, playing technique rather than relying on physical ability and just knowing how to win in the playoffs.Add Brady and Belichick when the money is on the table and you come up with Patriots Win.Charger mistakes as well as Marty also contributed mightily.

I don't know about breaking it down by quarter, but it's kind of tough to say that 4th quarter was almost all Pats when we lose the game if a guy just knocks a ball down instead of intercepting it. We scored 11 points in the last 5 minutes. Pretty clearly we were the better team there, but until that point I thought: (1) We were soundly beaten on both sides of the ball on special teams all day long, although they did make one bad special teams play. (2) Their defensive schemes were better than ours and had us confused much more than we had them confused. (3) They vastly outperformed us for much of the game in yards on first and second down and had a much better distance on third down and much better conversion on third down.

We won a game because we made big plays after their mistakes. They should have been beating us more than they were when some of those happened, is the way I see it. But we still made the plays. Even in their last drive, they were moving the ball pretty easily, but their kicker just didn't have the leg and their coach had thrown away a time out.
