Default 4th and 11??

Going for it on 4th and 11 is one of the stranger decisions I've ever seen. The only possible rationale I can see is that Schotty considered the FG try too far and didn't want to punt... even though he had us pinned the whole game and it was working well.

Either way, Marty showed that he doesn't have a lick of respect for our defence. How much you want to bet that BB et al make mention of that at halftime?

Didn't they say the wind was in his face or something? Maybe that's why Marty didn't try it. I was surprised too.

In what is likely to be a close game, it seemed a bizarre decision to go for it. It could come back to haunt him.

Apologies if it has already been discussed to death, but some of us stayed up till 0200, got up at 0630 and did a full day's surfing and drinking coffee, sorry, work.
I STILL can't get my head around this decision. Does anyone else get it?

It was a 48 yarder which is on the longer side, but is certainly a very makeable field goal, especially for a PROBOWL KICKER. Vintage Marty.

True. If he didn't think the FG was possible, they could have punted. At the very worst, we would have started at the 20. Having that play called MUST have messed with the Chargers' heads a little.

I hope you realize I am interrupting my busy schedule of "work" to reply to your post...

No, I can't fathom that decision either, but the one that was a real head-scratcher for me was the challenge of the McCree fumble. That was clearly just throwing away a timeout, and it very well could have cost them the game considering how valuable it could have been when the Chargers got the ball back, down 3, with 1:10 left, only to run out of time before getting into realistic field goal range.

Classic Martyball, probably trying to shake his image.

Then again, after watching Nate "wide right" Keading blow the game tying kick, perhaps going for it was the right decision.

He was that "blowing" the kick? It was a desparation attempt from 54 yards.
