Default Patriots.com article on Mike Wright

Another great article on our favorite backup DL:

Quote:
There was a time, not too long ago, when Patriots defensive lineman Mike Wright seriously considered walking away from his dream.

Wright was a junior in college with one season of Division II football on his resume and two full seasons missed due to an NCAA transfer rule and a serious knee injury.

"I almost quit before my senior year in college," Wright recalled. "I kept thinking, ‘Why would this year be any different? I'm probably going to get hurt again and then I'll have to go through all that stuff again.'"

Patriots coaches and fans are glad Wright decided to stick with it.
Yes, we are.

Mike Wright is a player ... that tackle to save a TD last month will stay in my mind for a long time. Seems like a player we can have for a long time .

His neck is wider than his head.

He's quickly becomign a fan fav. Defintiely one of my fav's. Keep on adding guys with his heart and the team will be alright. I see Wright getting more and more snaps next year and years to follow.

The guy was awesome last week. Props to Wright.

I'd say he is as good as a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Opinions on that?

Definitely passed Marquise Hill by and had 100x's more heart than Jonathan Sullivan.

Mike Wright is alot like Brady. Brady was drafted in 6th round, Mike was not. Both continually feel a need to prove themselves, much like Howie Long. A player either has heart and work ethic or doesn't.

I'd agree especially after last week's performance. If Wright continually gives performances like he did during the Jags I see this guy a regular starter in the rotation.

I was shocked he made the active roster last year much like randal gay the yr before, but they saw the player in him and his learning curve is fast.

You have to wonder what Marquise Hill's issues are. is he a slow learner or doesn't understand at all.

Richard Vershaun Seymour: 1st round, 6th pick, 2001
Ty'ron Markeith Warren: 1st round, 13th pick, 2003
Vincent Lamar Wilfork: 1st round, 21st pick, 2004

Mike Wright fitting in with essentially zero dropoff: Priceless

Next time someone says undrafted free agents are a waste of time, show them Wright's picture.
