Actually both. My cousin is a lecturer at Univesity College Dublin and I wanted to see the Boyne Valley particularly, so we spent a day. Wasn't much interested in Dublin, but my cousin's wife, (a native), got tickets to a play, so we had a great time there. He lives in EnnisKerry to the south.
Drove west, by the spectacular Rock of Cashel which I'd visited on the first trip with the family and stayed in Skibereen in West Cork the first trip, (Cousin's wedding).
For my solo trip I was determined to visit Cahersiveen near Valentsia island which is the ancestral homeland.
We had stayed on the dingle the previous trip.
I'm kind of an ancient Ireland Folklore hobbyist, so I was thrilled to find the author Professor Daithi O Hogain was on the faculty of UCD and I got to meet him through my cousin. Quite a thrill for me.
