I wonder if the Raiders will claim Gabriel on waivers.

What do you people think, BB just woke up today and said "we have enough receivers let's cut one"? Obviously we can say it was a mistake to trade for him but none of us has an idea as to why he was released. What's that saying? 'Tis betterto be thought a fool, thento open yourmouthandremovealldoubt. ...'

I honestly don't understand why this idea that Gabriel was benched just for the fumble vs. the Jets still persists.
It's just an absurd notion, and is easily recognizable as the utter stupidity it is when subjected to the slightest scrutiny.
Faulk's had a fumbling problem for years, and never got benched. Dillon's had some really crushing fumbles, and never got benched. Ben Watson's fumbled a bunch of late, and never got benched.
Sorry, but players don't get benched for one fumble. It doesn't happen.
There's been something else going on with Gabriel. It probably started well before the Jets game. Heck, it could have started as early as the Broncos game in which he didn't come on until the 4th quarter.
We don't know. It will be a while before we do. So if we can only speculate, at least let's try to speculate intelligently.
Speculation:
I think that Doug did not buy into the work ethic needed to play on the team. Notice how in every WEEI Monday AM interview Tom emphasizes how hard Reche is working and then he'll say how hard the receivers are working. Maybe Doug had a Donald Hayes style comprehension problem and just could not grasp the WR options like blitz adjustments that this offense requires. Maybe Doug was a distraction by sulking or was openly voicing dissention against the coaches or BB's style.
The true answer is not meant for man to know.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

You stole my thunder. If this was all about a fumble vs. the Jets, I would have thought Faulk would have been long gone with his fumble history. Gabriel was in the doghouse for a lot more than a fumble.
He appears to be angry at this release, and quite frankly, I am of the opinion that he wasnt treated fairly..but not knowing all the circumstances, who am I to say...
Exactly. You don't know all of the circumstances. Let's just admit we don't, and won't. If you want to draw the conclusion that he was treated "unfairly" without fully knowing what you're talking about, go ahead.
