Default Felger ranting on this comment by BB yesterday

saw it on upn38 yesterday also in the paper today too
http://patriots.bostonherald.com/pat...format=&page=2
Quote:
Here’s the bottom line: The Pats got the tar beat out of them in a key December game when playoff seedings and first-round byes hung in the balance. Hiccups are one thing. Getting physically dominated when it truly matters is another. If nothing else, it was a bad sign.
All of which made Belichick’s postgame commentary curious.
“We’re 9-4,” he said. “There are a lot of teams that would like to have that record. There are a few that wouldn’t, but quite a few that would. We’ll be judged by the body of work.”
Was the implication that everyone should be satisfied with being five games over .500? My impression was that the bar had been set a little higher in Foxboro.
Due largely to the talents of Belichick and the efforts of the players, there are three Vince Lombardi Trophies resting at Gillette Stadium. Now everyone is supposed to be satisfied with making the playoffs?
Maybe Belichick should have taken the cue from his offensive line and said nothing at all.
didnt know if BB said anything overly wrong ...he is even headed when they win and same with losses ? what do you guys think ?

I think BB knows when to kill the team in the press and when to lighten up the reigns. He knew this was a bad loss, and the press was going to be out for blood this week. So he decided let up on the team, and have a rah rah (well as rah, rahh as BB gets) type of statement. Usually when they win, he puts a negative press statement out, to kee the team focused and not too fulll of themselves, I think he felt it best this week, to give the team a littl pick me up.

Oh, Felger.

Where in that quote did Belichick say he was satisfied with 9-4 ??? He said a lot of teams would be happy to be 9-4 . . . and given that 9-4 is tied for the 5th/6th best record in the league, I would say he's right.

Felger is being silly and using baseball stats to address an NFL season. The 72 Dolphins were 7 games over 500 after the regular season if memory serves.

Is anything Felger says really worthy of a thread? It's like having a thread because a baby says "goo goo".

Felger is not driven by his love of the pats, he is driven by the ratings only the ratings and what he needs to do keep them up. He is in a very competitive time slot.

BB is never truly satisfied. The guy maintains the same demeanor whether we win or lose.

I like Mike Felger.

I thought he made a good point. That's not how Belichick usually speaks.

I've been bothered about the stuff lately where people talk about the Patriots' record after Thanksgiving, like that their past performance is going to win them games. I'm not sure where that's coming from, but I was reminded of it when I heard that Belichick was talking about their 9-4 record.

They are playing poorly late in the season.
