Default OT: Rutgers

This team is for real. Watched the second half of the game against #3 Louisville and they dominated them. Came back from 25-7 and stop them dead while throwing with the 100+ ranked passing and running with that kid Rice, wow. Great game. Too bad college football doesn't have a national championship which is played on the field.

Brian Leonard did an amazing job blocking for that kid. I'd love to see Leonard in a Pats uniform after the 2007 draft.

Rutgers just did a great job of screwing up the national polls. Now if only they can stay undefeated and Ohio State and/or Michigan can lose a game? Could be fun.

The Problem is that they started too far down in the polls. With the way the BCS (Bogus Championship System) works, no team that doesn't start out as a contender has a shot. LSU 3 years ago got robbed, they were better than Oklahoma, and there was no way possible for them to over come the "System"

Ohio State and/or Michigan will lose one, they play each other, but the media will pick someone else, like Arkansas, or USC.

The only way to fix this, is a 4 team play-off...1-4/ 2-3 with the Championship the following week after New Years. Keep the bowls the same, just move the Championship Bowl back 1 week. That way there's no controversy.

Rutgers still has to beat West Virginia. Temper your enthusiasm until then.

Why not make it an 8 team playoff, single elimination with 4 games one weekend, two the next and the championship the next weekend...say the weekend between conference championships and the Super Bowl. Use the college bowl games as the playoffs and they'lll get great ratings. Cotton,Sugar, Orange, Rose, Fiesta and two others and let them rotate with each getting the BCS championship once every seven years...
Use the other bowl games for what they are, the leftovers....It would get rating like March madness and they'd make money hand over fist.....
Never happen b/c it's too logical..

The problem with that though is that the players are also students. They have to take most of their classes during the spring and summer to make up for a light load during football season. If they have to play a game every week until the end of January, they'll be missing a lot of class during the first four weeks of the Spring semester. They don't miss class with bowl games because the take place during winter vacation. The best solution would be not to give the best teams a month off before they play their bowl game and start the playoffs right after the season ends. An 8 team playoff for three weeks would be perfect. The bowl season is three weeks long anyways. The first four playoff games will be the Rose, Orange, Fiesta, and Sugar Bowls. The semifinal games can be called something else. And, the BCS championship game stays. Qualification for the playoffs will be the same as getting a BCS bid. Almost any team can get a BCS bid basically by winning their conference. They could also do conference re-alignment or something, forcing all Divison 1 schools to join 8 evenly distributed conferences.

You're not the first person here to say that.
